What's wrong with this Gunbird PCB?

Just had a Gunbird PCB delivered and there's some graphical glitching going on. There's flickering dots on some layers of graphics, it's there on the Psikyo and title screens, some in game backgrounds and some of the sprites. I've tested the board on my 2 Jamma cabs and it does the same on both. The board doesn't appear to be a bootleg.

Here's what the title screen looks like...

It's all the white dots below the Gunbird logo.

What would cause this? A corrupted chip or something?

Do the dots remain during gameplay??

I can't think of anything that would cause this, usually such abnormal behavior is much worse than that.

They don't stay in the same place during gameplay, they appear only on some sprites and backgrounds during the game.

Just put dots in the "find in this page" search engine of your browser to scroll to the part which talks about this problem . It think I had a problem like this with one of my PCbs and it was faulty RAM that was causing it also.

I've got one a USA region Gunbird PCB and it works 100% without fail...it has May '95 Bios stickers placed on it -- perhaps this was when the USA version of Gunbird was released for the States courtesy of Jaleco themselves... ^_~

I do recall the very first time I saw/tried out this new arcade shmup title by the name of Gunbird was, indeed, back in May of 1995 at Blackbeard's (a cool-ass arcade place in Fresno, CA -- am not sure if Blackbeard's still there or not anymore)... ^_~

Sounds like maybe you got a problem with the 5v line on your arcade power supply unit (PSU) -- try adjust it to see if the problem goes away. If it does, then bingo, your woes are solved... ^_~

Or perhaps a bad chip or something else more serious -- you probably might want to have an arcade technician take a look at it and see if it can be revived...if not, then it's time to start looking for another one that works 100%..... ^_~
