What do I think of your Xexex review, Rob?

Post by Adigun A. Polack »

Rob, I just now saw your video review of the 1991 arcade game Xexex, and I thought that was so rather damn entertaining for such a shmup review of yours... and as for the part of the video where you said that “you have saved the girl from the dryer”, I thought that was quite damn funny, actually!!! !! Sorta like the MST3K vibe you just gave out here, and that most definitely works, you know that!? ;)

Overall, great review from you... well done!!! d=:D=b !

I like the end piece myself

(crossed out Night Raid)

You have a good sense of subtle humor. I love it. That's why I'm the #1 Rob fan, after all.

That makes me want to get a PSP and the Salamander collection. Too bad the Goemon Xexex in Goemon 2 for the SNES/GBA only has the ball level.

Apart from the comedic value, the reviews have shown me a lot of great old-ish shooters that I probably never would have played. Especially that Xexex, it looks great for it's time.

Thanks guys, really appreciate it. I'll keep picking games I think deserve a little more praise. Much more fun to talk about.

New shmup video on YouTube right now!

Post by Adigun A. Polack »

New from me is a *special* 2-part series of shmup videos that I am putting together on YouTube entitled Cho Ren Sha 68k (x68000 ver.): The Boss Onslaught, showing how I blew away the bosses in such amazing, aggressive style and form!! Just thought I want to share it with you people here!!! :D

The first video here shows all of the bosses from the first loop, and it is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMO_IFIOGpY

As for the second that shows the same bosses from second loop, I will get right on with piecing it together and getting it ready. I am gonna let you know for sure when it is on YouTube as well, alright? ;)

Enjoy the destruction festivities in the vid that I am showing you now!!!=b !

It's good for bullet hell because it's not intrusive. Hella works too, used them in your other vid... but only if you dub it over afterwards, I couldn't play to that. ha.

I want to make cool shmup videos like my hero. Someday!

I hope you have more respect for the final boss. You can still destroy the final form before it gets ugly, though.

I'm still more amazed you were able to one-life no mosquito that damn pancake. I hate that bloody thing. I probably would have been fine on the flower =/ It was also interesting seeing patterns on the 5th boss I've never seen before ^_^

FLOWER: PROVE IT. I probably don't have the right strategy.

The pancake-form has a really tight dodging section (I'm sure you can guess which), but seems easier to me. I also prefer the variety in that form. If you're not good at one attack, there's something a little different next. Rose: same damn thing (I hate, suck at) every time.

I also saw new patterns and know other ones better (notice some new boss milking sections?). It's worth it. :)

More Cho Ren Sha 68k (x68000 ver.) action heads to YouTube!!

Post by Adigun A. Polack »

Ok. Continuing on with Cho Ren Sha 68k (x68000 ver.): The Boss Onslaught, here comes Loop 2 of this, featuring the TRUE final boss!!! And, you can find it on YouTube right now in two parts at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B35f0MSwmPw (Part 1) and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mLSemNam_I (Part 2), respectively. ;)=b

At first, I thought I was gonna get Loop 2 here to fit into a single video... but DAMN, I was over the 10-minute YouTube limit when this happened!!! :( ! And so, I had to split it into two separate videos to show you all, and that is why I am providing you the links in this post. As it is, I want you to enjoy as much of the destruction festivities as ever in the videos that I am showing you indeed.

Thanks so much again!!! :D !

I'm trying to upload a couple of Ibara videos on Yotube but it's not working for some reason. The upload itself seems to go okay, but then after the video has processed I can't watch it. The status of the video is "Broadcast: Public | Failed" instead of "Broadcast: Public | Live!" as it should be. They are just regular xvid avi files and I have no problem watching them in media player. Does anyone of you Youtube users know what may be the problem?

I played Dodonpachi instead, had an almost decent-esque run as well.

I just... really don't like VP1 =/ I had fun with Twinbee, unlike many, but I'm not having fun with VP1. I WOULD like to at least get 3Mil though.

How much is "decent-esque" because if it's under 50 million it's nowhere near.

"decent-esque" as in I beat my 2-1 score of 51M by about 7 mil, but only made it about half-way through stage 6 since I'm trying to not bomb and actually get better at the game. I'm starting to figure out how to chain stage 4, but it's a royal pain in the ass. Stages 5 and 6 are just survival, and that too is a royal pain in the ass ^_^

Yes, I suck at shooters. Sue me.

That's a pretty good score actually

there's just a number of people that say "well i did alright/good in DDP" and then post a 15 million score
