Ah, so I take it maybe you like kaihu films like Godzilla maybe? If so, make sure you check out the 90's Gamera trilogy, AMAZING.HayakawaKen wrote:Eheh, yeah along with being a shmups fan, I'm a long time tokusatsu fan, Ultraman, Kamen Rider (like my avatar, Kamen Rider V3) and sentai series (Power Rangers) grew up with em, always have liked em.
And to get back on topic a bit, click updated and says a Mushihime puzzle game is advertised in the OST. Weird. This of course has nothing to do with the PS2 game so don't worry.

I'd be willing to take a larger hit box if I can get non-stop in play upskirts just like that poster (can't imagine I'll be getting any high scores though...)

Best I could find. Missing stage 3 and 4, but those are maniac replays anyway. I've got an Ultra replay for stage 5 with the true final boss, but I'd have to, like, use a yousendit link or something later.

I know exactly what ya mean. When I first found out they were the bosses I was like "Er...so I have to kill those smokin' hot honeys? Bummer." But looks can be deceiving and if they are killing innocent people, then I will open a can 'o Garegga flavored rage on their booties!iatneH wrote:Yeah.... no high scores for me either. ..I was never good at high scoring in Raizing-esque games anyway
Awwww, I thought you played AS them. Who wants to shoot them? (apparently Cave...)

Bond and Dyne are negotiators. . . Though. . . I'm not exactly sure how they're exactly negotiating.Dylan1CC wrote:No, you play as these very strange looking cyberpunk guys.
EDIT: There are pictures of them on Cave's site and probably click-stick.com.

Approach your target and attack! Your mission starts now! ARE YOU READY!?
Any idea about what the game mechanics are in Mushihimesama? Is it as simple as shoot and collect is is there something else going on here?

*50 gazillion bullets whiz by*
*grumble* "Darn it, they ALWAYS do that..."
In all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if Cave made the plot so you don't actually "kill" the Rose gals, you just "capture" them or something...gamers tend to react badly whenever their hentai-laden fantasies with anime-style gals are somehow compromised. Heck, SNK's fans have complained about the fact that Mai Shiranui from fatal Fury has a boyfriend...
IIRC, in "Normal" mode there isn't much of a scoring system happening, but once you move up to the harder modes I think there's some kind of chaining system at work.Any idea about what the game mechanics are in Mushihimesama? Found some pretty nice videos at
http://www.geocities.jp/moetarou_2000/
Looks like the game will kick my ass. The boss attacks on level 1 were very fast, for example, but the boss itself looked very cool.

Yeah, Cave needs to take some pointers from TGL...BulletMagnet wrote: In all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if Cave made the plot so you don't actually "kill" the Rose gals, you just "capture" them or something...
As for Dyne, here's his little brother, by Psikyo no less: http://www.darakutenshi.4t.com/roche.html
theres a LOT
of objects on screen [even for a cave game] in mushiesama.
I hope the PS2 can handle it all.
one things for sure, the developers better know what their doing.
great news anyway.

"It could be that my view on the absurdness of this story is not objective and you don't think it to be unusual at all but I can't help being impressed by this chain of events."
After watching the manic mode vids of levels 1 & 2, I was surprised by how ridiculously easy it looks. The bosses are a total joke as far as difficulty is concerned. Hopefully, the difficulty goes up in the latter levels.
The game itself looks like lots of fun, but perhaps without as much depth as Cave games like DDPDOJ or ESPGaluda.

Really? I got the exact opposite impression-- from what i've seen there's fewer bullets and enemies on the screen compared to, for example, DDPDOJ or ESPGaluda. I think the PS2 will handle this just fine, with just perhaps some occasional slowdown (something I haven't seen even once in Manic mode in the PCB version!! That is something of note).uwfan wrote:theres a LOTof objects on screen [even for a cave game] in mushiesama.

Actually, the bullet patterns in this game remind me more of Psikyo than Cave.

Yes, well, the Rose Sisters happen to be evil bitches bent on taking over everything. I know I wouldn't let some militant faction take over my country just because its leaders are hot chicks.BulletMagnet wrote:In all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if Cave made the plot so you don't actually "kill" the Rose gals, you just "capture" them or something...gamers tend to react badly whenever their hentai-laden fantasies with anime-style gals are somehow compromised.

did you spend the past 2 months in a CAVE? (LOLOLOLOL PUN OMG)
the game has 3 modes, the original mode you see in the videos, the maniac mode which is your average cave difficulty and what most people play, and the ultra, which contains so much bullets that your head is gonna explode, and from the first stage too.
Dude, its a superplay video, of course they are going to make it look easy because they don't mess up. They have been playing the game for almost a year now (is it more?). Let me know what you think after it hands your ass back to you a couple hundred times.twe wrote:After watching the manic mode vids of levels 1 & 2, I was surprised by how ridiculously easy it looks. I know it's a superplay, that's not the point. I've seen many superplays (and even made some myself, for Ikaruga). As I stated I was only talking about the first 2 levels. Compared to Daioujou, for example, Mushi looks like a breeze for the first 2 levels. This was my point.Dave_K. wrote:Dude, its a superplay video, of course they are going to make it look easy because they don't mess up. Anyway it would be nice to hear from those who have actually played the game to get their perspective on the difficulty throughout the game.
I was a bit confused by tha name of the difficulties. They go normal-maniac-ultra. I mean, in my book "maniac" sounds worse than "ultra".twe wrote:I know it's a superplay, that's not the point. Anyways, I didn't play that much (about ten, twelve times), and only one or two times on normal, but as far as I saw, "normal" contains few but fast bullets, "maniac" a lot of slow bullets and "ultra" a lot of fast bullets.
Of course that's just a simplification, but it was something like that. And yes, it's true, maniac is not at all difficult during the first two levels. I got to level three on my first try (or second, maybe) and I'm not a skilled shmuppet by any rate.
The score system I know nothing about. It's something that you get a chain count for keeping firing at the same enemy. But after reading the thing that came up in the autofire thread, I don't care a bit. It seems to be legit to hardware-hack the autofire button so it misuses the chain count system and creates a score double or triple the one you would get without this hack.
It's a great game, anyway. I loved the music, loved the environment, the graphics, and the bullet patterns. Precisely what I want from a shmup today. And a two-player mode! Yay!
