How's Macross M3 for the Dreamcast?...

How is it as a transforming-mech action game?

The game is bad. Buy Sega AM2's Macross for PS2 instead.

I read some reviews on Gamefaqs, I just wanted some opinions from people on this site.

Too bad AM2's Macross game will probably never see a US release. It was listed as "TBA 2005" for a while, on IGN's PS2 release date webpage, but not anymore.

In any case, how's Robotech: Invasion? That one looks pretty cool.

Get the PS2 one. The DC game ain't too bad (it's very mediocre) but the PS2 one is actually good. I very much enjoyed it.

EDIT: Keep in my I think Macross is crap too!

Hmm, the PS2 one is good? It looks like any other Macross flight sim to me. Are there anime scenes? And does it follow the same DYRL plotline that nearly all other Macross games follow?

Dunno, but unfortunately it's only been released in Japan.

Any comments on Robotech: Invasion?

Ganelon: It's got some pretty heated action in it, which is more than I can asy for the DC one. Some of the stages are very big, and there's other mechs fighting with you. Very little cut scenes, but a lot of face shots of people talking to you. I'd probably give it a 7.5/10.

Cool, thanks, Gaijin. I've got pretty much all the good Macross games already so I guess I'll spring for PS2 Macross eventually.

Anyway, if anyone really want to play PS2 imports, it's just $36 for the fliptop and Swap Magic discs. You'd pay more for the game itself so what gives?

although i doubt that comment was directly aimed at me. i have an asian (DVD is set to region 3) PS2. i'll never play it, because it is selling for more than $65, and is a game belonging to a series i have never been into(although to be fair, i've never seen it :P ).

Nah, my comment was to anybody in general about waiting for the US release of games that will never come here (as Bandai learned the hard way when they finished localizing Macross VF-X 2 only to realize they would be creamed by licensing fees).

The game is only $40 new on Ebay, less than $50 after shipping. If you don't have any inclination to watch the series or movie though, then that's certainly understandable.

Thanks for the comments guys!

One more question: How's Robotech: Battlecry? Looks like it's all cell-shaded; which would be really cool.

Battlecry looks alright and even controls OK. Some of the missions can be a little rough and the game itself is quite long although you can save after every mission. Pretty fun with the noted annoyance that there's a limit to how high you can move so that the game forces you to move through maze-like areas rather than over them.

Space missions are mediocre, the rest is awful... Next to Sega's Macross it looks and plays like a bad joke. The only fun me and friends got out of it was making fun of the repetitive bad voice acting.

ahar: I think Macross is crap (look at my original post!) and always have. Shitty Pop music will never save the univsere, and I maybe the only one that knows it. Nonetheless, the game is fun.

How about the PS2 Transformers game that came out last year? It looks like a good third-person shooter, but I've heard the robots control described as "clunky".

I loved it. As for the Transformers being clunky, well i didn't find it a problem, i mean they're supposed to weigh a fair few tons, y'know?
The graphics are really  for the PS2 (Melbourne House did a fab job) and the action is frantic. Pity it's based on the new Armada series though.

Buy it Dave. Buy it.

You know you want to.

You can't resist.

It calls your name.

You want to touch it.

Way OT, but, thanks to you guys (I'm pretty sure), I had a huge dream about TF last night. Ultra Magnus drove out of this tunnel onto a ledge, and it was inside of a... volcano, or something like that. He transforms, and is immediately picked up by one of those HUGE transformer dudes, a Decepticon. Magnus transforms back into a trailer, and he's literally smaller than this guy's pinky finger. He transforms back, and somehow is able to unite with the Dinobots, which somehow makes him about half as big as the big guy (which shouldn't be, since the big guy would technically still be eight times as big).

Anyway, super-bot-ultra (whatever we'll call it) reaches up, and looks like he's a kid giving a dad a hug (still being held in the big guy's crushing hands), but then, he swings the big guy's head down into his knee for a decent hit, and the big guy falls down into the volcano, along with Grimlock, whom apparently was the... super-bot-ultra's leg, becoming detached in the process.

Grimlock's then trying to get out of the lava and shrieking in pain, and the big guy's sitting there and going, "at least in space, we didn't have to worry about... lava" over and over again.

Er... Sorry about that.

Yeah, but you could say the same thing about the robots in the Zone of the Enders series, and yet they move pretty quickly; hence my concern.
