so are they really worth the download?I'm asking cause it took me 5-6hours to download the sat. vid.
I liked the saturn video,so will I like the others as well?

off-topic: I'm playing with the idea of making a "Gamecube 2D-games" video-special.

Maybe you were unlucky with the download and it's a bit corrupted? It seems to work fine for me in all my media players...

Yeah I have all the Retrocore volumes. Great features on all kinds of random, obscure, and in some cases not so obscure games. Also in one of the features he visits an arcade with loads of shmups as well as another where he visits a used game store.

Shame there hasn't been any new ones lately. The best line of his was when he was playing this robot boy sim game for the Super Famicon(I think). The boy smashes the rake on the ground and he says
"Ah you little fuck." I just fall over everytime.

Heh, I bet that's Wonder Project J. The ROM's been fully translated, by the way.

Yeah, it was Wonder Project J. ("Ah, you little shit!" - Yakumo) :D

Retro Core 7 was released recently (April 10th), but I haven't watched it yet.

Anyone know how the quality is on the most recent version?

While I love the variety and scope of the Retrocore volumes, the videoquality in the past has been crap. Seriously, this guy needs a capture card

...though I guess that wouldn't be too helpful for all of those games he plays via emulators that don't support a video capture function; it wouldn't be as obvious that he was playing them via emulators if he actually knew the game names... that Shadow Squadron slip up was gold.

...and on a further tangent, more of you guys need to dump $50 on a decent capture card and record some videos of the gameplay in the rarer titles of your collection.

The video quality in 7 was actually a bit worse than 6. He used a much higher compression and the video suffered (the intro text is practically illegible, to give you an idea).

And I'm currently working on my Neo Geo Shooting Special. :) I finally got everything ready and have started some capturing as well as editing. However, this is my first time putting something this large together... so it's going to take me a couple of weeks (the fact I'm moving this week doesn't help).

In the end, I'll be covering 16 games and will be showing about 4 minutes of gameplay from each (with commentary this time, I promise). :)

I'm busy editing the intro at the moment.

Hey

Can anyone upload Retrocore volumes six and seven to Archive.org? They're only listing volumes 1-5 plus the shooter volume.

Found bittorrent listings and all that, but my wireless network frowns on this sort of thing so I'm out of luck.

As for comments regarding a capture card, give the guy a break. Unlike in the US, Capture cards are expensive as hell in Japan.

Awesome to hear :)
What are you using for the video editing?

I've started playing Guardian Heroes again and have been recording every few levels as I play through the game. Lord is it just as fun as it's ever been. Don't know if I'll ever do a super play per-se, but I like making some gameplay footage available for people that otherwise would never have a chance to see the game in action.

Another dealie I'm kicking around is the idea of recording myself playing through Panzer Dragoon Saga (similar to the Anachronox movie). Going to need to pick up a spindle of DVDRs first, though. I'm an absolute pack-rat and somehow filled up over 600 gigs of hard drive space (keep in mind that I don't use P2P and I don't download movies).. Not sure what I'm going to use to edit the video footage together :(

Oh, and a quick sob story:
Yesterday I was recording Episode 3 of Panzer Dragoon Zwei and was midway through the level with a friend decided to AIM me with a "Hey, what's up?", causing the video to hiccup. wouldn't have bugged me if he hadn't logged off right after sending the message :(
