But that raises another question: Given that many bosses time out to prevent point-milking, aren't there some shmups that are in clearable without actually blowing up anything? (The 'air Ghandi' mode...)
I am pretty sure it's possible to do it in Strikers 1945 II (Unless the last boss doesn't time out or something). I have went up to level 4 without firing a single bullet once, problem is that the boss suicide attack is a bitch to dodge. (He gets REALLY pissed if you don't destroy it), but the normal levels become a lot easier if you don't shoot ever.

I don't feel sorry for most of them. They NEVER know what hits them. Unless it's a 1st level boss where you sadistically tear him appart piece by piece.....

No, I feel nothing for him either

killing animals for fun - even virtualy but in a quite realistic way - somehow is just not my cup of tea...

oddly this never occurred when wasting hordes of "human" enemies in a game :?

are there any superplays of 1ccns?
1cc no shoot.

Do any exist at all?

The Reap

Have been wanting to play it for ages. I think Malc even bought lots of copies because it was incredibly cheap, and sent to friends back at the time. I know I nearly got one copy from Akira once, but can't remember why didn't happen.

I have no regrets shooting at things, probably because they give you a pretty justifiable reason, like in Perfect Cherry Blossom. Yuyuko steals Spring's essence, Reimu gets upset because she doesn't like Winter and wants Spring to come, Marisa wants to see where the missing Spring went, and Sakuya needs to end the Winter before her home runs out of food.

Cirno wants revenge for her defeat in Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, Letty wants to stop the heroine because she doesn't want her happy Winter fun time to end. Chen attacks to prevent the heroine from stealing anything. Alice attacks to test out her new spells (and maybe get revenge on Reimu/Marisa for her defeat way back in Mystic Square). Lily unintentionally attacks the the heroine as she tries to celebrate Spring's forthcoming. The Prismrivers see the heroine as an unwanted guest and don't want her to ruin Yuyuko's flower-viewing. Youmu is trying to protect Yuyuko, who wants to unlock the spirit inside that haunted sakura tree...Which would be a bad thing because that tree is a freaking TRAP CARD.

And of course, there's a Extra/Phantasm Bosses....Yukari's apparently too lazy to set the rift back up, so the heroine has to knock some sense into her.

I'd say that's plenty enough reason for the bosses, and as for the enemies...If they're trying to shoot you down, you gotta defend yourself, amirite?

I have no regrets shooting at things in StGs (unless it's part of a high score or something where it's more favorable to shoot at certain enemies first). Shooting things in real life I question for various reasons.

I like games with moral ambiguity. In Dai ou Jou, you're blowing up robots, but you are a robot yourself, but one with thoughts and feelings (and tits). In Under Defeat, you're a Nazi. You can trivialise the visual data in your head, think of Space Invaders and pixels, but you're still the baddie, however you look at it.

Nope, no shooter has ever made me feel bad for taking out a load of badass aliens intent on my destruction- its either them or me and generally the odds are stacked in their favour.

I have tho in the past played around with the old spectrum 48k game 'Lunar Jetman' -i typed in a poke that stopped the game from ending once my Lunar Rover had been destroyed.
Anyway, i'd played the game for a while and i was really into it- really enjoying the game and then, all of a sudden, the missile took out the Lunar Rover and it was gone....- game over... except, it wasn't- it was just me, Jetman, marooned on the moon- no aliens, no rover, -no fuel to fly- its the one and only time i really felt some weird 'isolation' when playing a game- and the game in question is a 20+ year old shooter.
No other shooter has ever made me feel like that again.

Damn you guys, now I can't stop playing no-shoot Raiden Fighters 2.

I learned you get 1,110 points per frame of graze...

EDIT: 826,110 points. :P

Less than that to start out with, more than that when your "graze chain" is maxed out.

I don't think so. My score is always a multiple of 1,110 before the first time I die.

You also have to play the base stage first, or else that helper ship you get for some reason if you play it as the second stage will screw up your no-shoot play. :P

Now I find the bosses dying funny. It takes me a lot of willpower not to laugh when they blow themselves up between each "phase" of the fight out of frustration. :P

The bullet is usually on your "graze box" for more than a frame in the first stage.

I do earn less than 1k in graze on stupid deaths in later stages.

I'm pretty certain that it's 1110 points per frame. I watched my score, and it only increments in that way.

I've gotten well over 10k from a graze on a single bullet on stages that weren't the first...

Well, I mean if you haven't been grazed by bullets at all for a little while and you die by a really fast one.
