No, this is just you sucking :p The game was desgined around the choppy scrolling, you just need "LRN2PLY" or whatever they say these days.
The game is easier than MSX Gradius 2, and I think it's the most enjoyable horizontal Konami shmup on the MSX 1 (Though Nemesis 3 is the most advanced one).
No, it's me just not getting used to how the game works. My previous post sounded worse than I meant it to sound. I wasn't dissing on the game or saying it was poor due to the choppy scrolling. I like it quite a bit so far. I know it's designed around the scrolling, but it does take some getting used to. Even though the game is designed around the scrolling, trying too hard to do the exact same things as the smoother scrolling games like staying right by an enemy, has gotten me killed.
At first, I had a much harder time with Parodius than the other MSX shmups, aside from Salamander. I kept making dumb mistakes like letting those bees from the boxes kill me because I kept forgetting that more pop out, getting killed by using the white bell and crashing into something, or getting hit from an enemy behind me. Once I got used to the enemy placement, memorized the levels a bit more, and got used to the way the game works, and how to maneuver in the narrow areas, it got much easier. I aslo like the MSX Gradius, Sky Jaguar, Knightmare and what I played of Gradius 2 and Gofer no Yabou Episode II.
While the actual difficulty of Parodius may be easier, the narrowness of some of the areas took some getting used to. BTW, the topic is games I have been "struggling with for no good reason". I don't feel that I need to be told to "learn how to play" in a topic where I feel I should admit dumb mistakes. Part of the reason I posted in this topic in the first place is because I realize my mistakes were dumb and I'm starting to play the game much better.
Chill out, I was just teasing you. Really, I didn't mean offense or anything, I am really sorry if I sounded like a turd. Believe me, I took a lot of owning from MSX Parodius too. It took me a long time just to beat level 1 without dying back when I was a kid, and I do know you are a guy who dig the MSX shmups even though they have the "Oh my god I can't deal with this choppy scrolling" syndrome
And I should have said that I agree Parodius has more stuff on Backgrounds than most of the other Konami games, so the chopiness may hurt your gaming indeed.
Really, I am sorry, I didn't mean offense or anything, I was just kidding a little.

oh ok. Sorry about that. I'm bad with scarasm on the internet, but I have been feeling a bit under the weather lately due to an ear infection. That's no excuse, though.

I love the game to death, but I'm just so BAD at it.
Who doesn't?
Who doesn't what? Love it or suck at it?
I wanted to put extra emphasis on how much I suck at this game. It doesn't even really make sense either. I'm not bad at shmups persay, but I'm DEFINITELY bad at this one. Worse than bad... I'm... just... bad.
Rank games, especially Garegga, though I'm a fan of both Garegga and Ibara. Just can't hold myself from collecting EVERYTHING dropping from the top of the screen.
