I'm going to open a new Rayforce hi score thread, but there are some points I'd like to discuss with all the forum users, especially becaus Randorama (old thread owner) is very busy this days and can't communicate frequently.
So, we know that Saturn versions of Rayforce have lower difficulties if compared to the arcade boards. Rando says that if you want compete on equal ground you have to select "hard 1" diffculty on Saturn. But I recently read some other sentences by Rando in wich he states the correct difficulty is "hard 2".
Also, when you extend, on both version, you suffer a rank increasement. On Saturn, extend are given at 500,000 and 1,000,000 points, while on the pcb they are given at 1,000,000 and 2,000,000. So, the Saturn version is easier, but the rank maxes out earlier than on pcb version.
However, I also saw that many players play the game on full defaults on Saturn, ignoring Rando suggestion.
So, I'd like to discuss with you two points, before opening the new thread:
1 - to the best of your knowledge, what shoul'd be the correct difficulty you shoul'd play Saturn version to emulate pcb difficulty?
2 - How many and wich type of scoreboard you want I set up? I think that we coul'd make a single scoreboard for pcb, mame and difficulty-upgraded Saturn version, and another board for full defaults Suatrn version. Or we coul'd have three boards: one for pcb and mame players, another for Saturn upgraded difficulty version (due to the different rank increase) and a last board for full defaults Saturn version.
Please join the discussion even if you are not interested in posting Rayforce score, suggestion are very much appreciated.

I feel that split tables are always best.
At least one for original arcade version (and mame) and another for Saturn default version.
If there is enough playing interest for higher difficulty settings then add tables as people submit score.
I'll be glad to submit a score for default Saturn version (I am official last place holder of shmups.com hi score boards)

Yes Sonic R, it is probably the best choice; I played at Hard 1 difficulty untill now, but I see that both Saturn player and pcb/mame player submit scores with default setting, and we know that defaults differs a bit for console and pcb. Pcb version is harder, console version is easier but the rank max out earlier.
I'll wait few days, also for Rando suggestion about difficulties, but if there aren't other suggestion, we will compete on two different boards: pcb/mame full defaults and Saturn full defaults.
The fact is that now are so few people interested in this game... too bad
Anyways, my battle for three millions all clear continue
And post your suggestion
