Great score there SiKrAiKeN!
Btw, I guess the competition is almost over. Here's a 4,5mil replay if anyone is still interested. http://www.mydatabus.com/public/DMC123/tbyahhooo.inp (recorded in mame plus, latest version)

Come on guys, I am surprised to see so many game overs on level 6, mainly in the "Circle around the tower section".
You just move up then down then up then down to get rid of the first batch of enemies.
And the "boss" is incredibly easy. Just go all way to the right, and his shots won't hit you. When he stops shooting he will rush at you to try to punch you... you just need to tap a little to the left, and when he moves back to the top of the screen, move all the way to right again. Repeat until he explodes
Easier than Sonic 2 last boss
5th boss isn't hard too, but maybe with increased rank it may give some trouble. I usually would reach it without any lives, heh.
Boss 3 would give me trouble sometimes (it needs much more adlib-dodging than level 5 boss), and level 4 mid-boss is the one to be feared IMO. I played it enough to get most of its patterns right, but when the "little helpers" open up to fire the lightning balls at you... THAT PATTERN would kill me ALL THE TIME. I think I only dodged it once without getting hit (Sometimes I was lucky enough to reach that pattern still wearing a shield). I just couldn't figure out how to get past it without problems.
The only way I could actually beat that mid-boss was to destroy it quickly enough before he could fire that pattern for the 2nd time.

It makes a big difference with all the bosses especially the Level 3 boss, the two 'Flower-Guy' bosses and lastly the Level 5 doll boss. Level 5 itself is much harder too with several lives in stock. However, for some reason I didn't notice any difference rank-wise with the Knight boss?Shatterhand wrote:5th boss isn't hard too, but maybe with increased rank it may give some trouble. On my last run I had 4 lives going into the 'doll' and managed to lose 3 of them in the space of 30 seconds due to twice the normal bullets and homing rockets.

I usually could 1-life the game up to the 4th stage. I noticed the rank acting on level 3 boss though.
The 4th boss (two-flower guy) got me a few times. Probably everyone here who managed to reach it died at least once just after killing it, heh
But the worst thing for me was, at level 4, there was a section with a bridge where lots of arms come from below the bridge, to "deploy" enemies at the bridges, but the arms could kill you too.
I have died, at least FOUR TIMES doing the following:
I die a little before of that section. Then the big cloud shows up in the middle of the screen, and I rush to get all the bells... and the arms show up and kill me again. Goddamn, that was incredibly frustrating, and I did it too much. Those arms must have killed me at least 10 times up until I decided to not stay at the top of the bridge anymore. It was even more frustrating to get there with my full shield, and the arms would show up and just remove my shield AND kill me in a single stroke.

Yeah, if you've survived (with Michael) up to the stage 3 boss, the rank gets really crazy.
Both times I all'd the game I died twice the stage 3 boss, which was probably really good to cool off the rank. The rest of the lives always went at the stage 6 black robot guard, despite having learned how to dodge him.
Who else watched the Japanese 7,5 mio Practice mode no-miss all? The rank is absolutely insane by the Stage 4 mid-boss, with basically a constant stream of bullets, almost like second-loop Dodonpachi.
I'm really looking forward to watching the 4 mio+ replays. You guys are truly scoring masters! I'm a very risk-averse player, so unfortunately I didn't do well scoring.
EDIT:
I'll add that I really like this game, btw. Stage 3 is so much fun, and really gives you a great sensation of high speed flying.

Did the hi-scoring guys actually use Michael?
Because I was actually avoiding it. It made bell juggling harder (Though it helped hitting that bell that was about to fall out of the screen), and when you lose it, you get back without any hand power-ups. Same for Gwinbee, except on level 4, where anything to keep me alive was welcome, and I really couldn't care for score.
I'd usually never get the white bell power-ups, I would usually resort to the flame-throwers. After-death I would resort to my charged shots.
Edit: Oh yeah, another funny moment for me: Raching 5th boss for the first time.... the guys says "NONSENSE!", and then seconds later a laser comes homing at me and just gets me, getting my last life. At that moment I thought the laser would hit me no matter what I did, which makes me say loudly something like that in portuguese: "What the fuck? Nonsense indeed"
