Highest score on one credit - no cheats

1. MSZ - 1,113,400 - 2-7
2. Galaxius - 798,700 - 2-3
3. Chico - 726,300 - 2-3
4. Edge - 711,700 - 2-3
5.

I absolutely suck at actually killing things in this game..

One-lifed the first loop, then lost all ten of my lives on the Moai stage. That stage is an absolute killer when you have no speed-ups.

What about the Vs. Verion on Arcade?
Does it count? It's almost like the NES port.

Vs Gradius:

711'700 / 2*Lvl.3 / Mame

That Moai stage is the hardest in the entire game.
I one lifed to that stage too and lost all my lifes there.
With no power ups it's nearly impossible to survive this stage.

Vs. gradius is identical to NES one except cheats are removed. so Vs. GRadius is OK, i'd say.

The only actual cheatsd are

1) Konami Code
2) using a rapid fire controller.

However, thre are ingame tricks that are not cheats, whch I will list.

1) secret waarps let you skip levels, ut as yo ulose out on score they are a bad propoistion overall.
2) Rapid fire. Wrapping the capsule meter around when the thousands digit i s at a certain number (i think it was 0 but i'm not sure) will give you rapid fire, whic hwhen combined with laser gives you awesome firepower which will tear thru most enemies. this is why I say rapid fire is a cheat if doen thruy the controller. you musst earn it in gameplay) you lose it when you die, tho.
3) 10,000 pt capsule bonus. wrapping the capsule meter around when the thousands digit is on one specific DIFFERENT number will give you a 10,000 point bonus. needless to say, do this as muhc as possible to maximize score!
4) 1ups. These require you pass over the right spot when thousands digit is EVEN i think.
5) 5000 pt bonus spots. these have no requirement, jsu tpass them over. needless to say, collect em all

My big tip is not to die on the moai stage (laugh). It's really easy with lasers and rapid fire, bt if youy lose it, it's a bitch. beeyond that, you will usually warp past stage 4 if you play stage 3 properly, because destroying enoough Moai heads without dying triggers the warp.

No deaths untill 2-3! This level sucks if you lose only 1 life in it...

BTW: Can you imagine why my score is incredibly annoying even if I am number two now?

1,095,500 - 2-5 (the organic level)

D'OH.... it was a no-death-run untill that point my mother shouted "When do you clean up your room?", 1 second after that sentence, it said "bliiuubblblb" and I continued saying this untill now.

I was in best condition when I died because of my dusty room - full shield, Laser, all Speed Ups, missiles, no deaths before... never mind. Lets give it another try tomorrow =)

Galaxius - 1,159,500 - 2-7

One-lifed it to 2-7, then lost all of my lives quite quickly. Wish I would have made it to 3-1 and got the 100k loop bonus.

Added-

Break my high score before work, break it again after work. I like the continuity.

Galaxius - 2,125,800 - 4-6

One-lifed the first three loops, (it was a very tense third loop!), then died on 4-4. Actually managed to recover and get past the end-of-level wallcanoes, and made it through stage 5 and into stage 6 with no power-ups. Died right after!
