that depends wether you're biased or not, imo.it290 wrote:Yeah, but if you consider the DC part of the current generation (I do), then the PS2 might not be crowned the champ just yet. I think it will be when its run is over, though.
Mushihimesama PS2 pre-orders confirmed! (was: Is this real?)
It depends on your preferences really. Border Down, Ikaruga, Mars Matrix, Gunbird 2, Bangai-O... DreamCast doesn't have that many but what it has is great. Could make a case for the DC being a better shmup console than the PS2 if you wanted to.The vagrant wrote:that depends wether you're biased or not, imo.
And no, I don't consider the DC a part of this gen. It was in its own generation.
well, here comes the "unbiased" part.mannerbot wrote:It depends on your preferences really. Border Down, Ikaruga, Mars Matrix, Gunbird 2, Bangai-O... just because someone prefers, say, super aleste over any 16 bit shmup, doesnt really make the snes the best 16 bit shmupping console, from an objective point of view that is.
that said, i prefer mars matrix over any next get shmup :p
I hope to hell this isn't some kind of mess up or joke. Not that I'm quite as excited by this game as others, but it would be great to see the Cave games coming out consistantly, plus I'm stoked about Ibara. Well what the hell, maybe our day has come afterall!

Yeah, I'm worried about Taito doing this a bit myself. Again, I know they don't care whether or not their games are ported, but I'm hoping Cave does at least a little quality assurance before Taito puts the port on the market.BulletMagnet wrote:Whether this is real or not I'm wishing that Arika was still halping Cave with this stuff, due to Taito's inconsistent track record with ports, but if this turns out to be real I might just spring for the pre-order in good faith...

I know what you mean. I am trying to limit myself to 4 shmups that I plan on "mastering" in my lifetime: Progear, Garegga, DDP and Radiant. I'll probably never buy DOJ for this reason. I'd like to but I'd never have enough time to truly ace it.cigsthecat wrote:Well, I'll probably enjoy it for that month. I've already found the 3-4 games I can play endlessly so I'm all set there.
Just seems to be my Cave routine.
EDIT: Assuming I like Mushi enough, that will be my 5th game to "master."

I thought Tatio signed a deal with Empire in europe to release a taito collection DVD with 30 of their 80s arcade hits. The vagrant wrote:they are re-releasing some of their titles, of which is shiki 1 and 2, that, and some weird thing named taito memories 1 and 2 is on the way.brand1bil wrote:Like what? Lets dream a second an maybe Taito memories 1 and 2 are 60 arcade perfect games for PS2

You have to get DOJ, at least at some point. You haven't lived 'til this game has made you it's bitch. Truly life changing...

Nah. I seriously am satisfied with Progear, Saturn DDP, Mushihime and if it appears on PS2, Ibara as far as my Cave play goes. The next Cave game I get beyond these titles would be an EspRaDe PCB.MadSteelDarkness wrote:Aww, Dylan...Dylan1CC wrote:I know what you mean. Personally, I'll wait for NCSX to offer a pre-order (mainly because anything shipped from them arrives overnight here using UPS Ground).
However, we do have 3 possible issues with this currently:
1: Another "Ketsui Incident". Something stupid occurs between Cave and Taito that nixes the project (hopefully, this won't be the case).
2: Another "OMFGWG". A badly implemented port can be almost as bad as not getting the game at all (almost). Hopefully, Taito will pull a page from their Psikyo Shooting Collection 3 book and do an admirable job.
3: Another "Ikaruga Fiasco". The release info is leaked to a commercial site and they post a speculative release date. Company denies they are working on port (even though they are). Proposed date of release passes (for DC Ikaruga, it was originally May 30th of 2002). Company acts cryptic for 2-3 months. Game is then finally announced officially by company for release in yet another 2-3 months (even though port is 99% complete).
