I do recall the original Japanese version of Neo-Geo Pocket Color "Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams" priced at 3,990 yen at various Japanese game shops back in early 2000. I do recall that SNK of America was going to release this particular NGPC shmup title for the USA market but was cancelled at the last minute due to SNK pulling their entire NGPC hardware/software off the market in mid 2000.
Wasn't sure if I should pick it up or not (the JPN ver. of NGPC Cotton). I passed up on it -- fast forward to now which is 2007. The rarer UK NGPC version of "Cotton: FND" was offered for sale by fellow shmupper, Kiken. We agreed on the deal and it was done.
Just got it safe and sound yesterday via FedEx, very quick shipping through them, of course...thanks again Kiken. ^_~
Since I only just have the Turbo Duo version of Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams Super CD-Rom2 game disc + game case...I can see that some concessions were made to fit it to such a tiny NGPC cart. And what an impressive feat it is... ^_~
I like how the Fairy, Silk, is portrayed in the NGPC instruction manual -- all looking super sexy and inviting for some "heavy petting" action (got to admit that Silk looks sexier than the Disney's Tinklebell animation character)...same thing with the PCE/Turbo Duo Cotton version front cover of the instruction manual itself... ^_~
I realize that the PCE/Turbo Duo version of this game is presented in Redbook audio format for that special extra goodness in 44100 kHz format whilist this NGPC cart is in a properitary sound format -- mono through the single speaker setup on the NGPC unit itself or in stereo through the use of stereo headphones, of course...
Just out of curiousity, I did download the arcade Rom of Cotton: FND to see how the original arcade game material played on Mame32 emulator and found out that not much was lost in either PCE or NGPC ports, give or take... ^_~
You are given 9 credits to use at your disposal to see if the game can be cleared -- of course, with enough practice, I'm sure it could be one credit-cleared (1CC) given enough time to do so...
The NGPC port of Cotton does have a nice unique charm of it's own..... ^_~

Cotton on the Neo Geo Pocket Color is a fine game.
I had this (and Last Blade 2) back a few years ago. I got a good offer on the whole package (Neo Geo Pocket Color and both games) so I sold it off
I have small regret but am ok otherwise. It was nice to have Cotton on the go - afterall I cannot play the Duo Cotton on the Turbo Express
^_^ Enjoy Cotton on your Neo Geo Pocket Color ^_~
