Are you all prepared to be totally pwn3d? If not... you still have some more time, because I suck at Raiden.

Training:

Novice:
Zach Keene - 1,328,640 - 1-3 - 1P

I love this game, but damn does it give me a bitch slappin'.

I'm playing the PSX version - not sure if there are others. I have no idea what alpha-beta-charlie are either.

All on defaults.

Training:
Landshark - 972,950 - 1-0 - 1P

Novice:
Landshark - 1,617,480 - 1-3 - 1P

Still trying to get a better training score. I always lose my lives while weaving between the bullets going for 5k bonuses for each weave on those 2 water-tanks in the 1st music area. Can't ... resist ... the ... points....

sorry for the double post but something has just occoured to me while messing with the options screen. There is a difficulty setting too, not just a course select. So I take it we are all using 'Normal' difficulty? But should we be using normal and not arcade bearing in mind some could be playing on pcb or maybe even in emu? Of course i'm playing the psx version in normal difficulty.

might be worth checking out/verifying what are the default settings on the pcb compared to the console

Guys, please tell me if you've played on "Normal" or "Arcade" difficulty, i'll change the rules immediately to avoid confusion  Thanks GK and sorry for all the mess :?

Rando, you best remove my scores if we are playing on arcade difficulty cos all mine were on normal, unless you're gonna have different tables for the two settings?

so does that mean you did yours in arcade mode Rando? if so they're quite impressive cos its fucking bolt hard in arcade mode dude.

anyways here's a novice run score in normal setting:

Guardians Knight - 1,365,810 - 1-4 - 1p

Novice Course, Arcade difficulty

elbarto - 1,702,130 - 1-2 - 1P

The scoring in this game seems really wacky sometimes.. the "enemy destroyed" percentage seems to be a real decisive factor, as I found when I died in the first stage (on normal diff), but thanks to 100% enemy destruction, I ended up with over 1.3M points.. :?

Can someone please translate the "bonus" screen for this game? The stuff it says when you die some percentages, some rank number. I have no idea what they are but they really affect your score alot.

My high score is in level 3. Yet I've made it to level 4 a few times with less score.

Does it depend on how many of those little hidden ground things you find and destroy? Or are those only relevant to discovering those hidden crystals to destroy that give you about 200k a pop?

Is there a strategy guide somewhere for this game?

Guys, please add difficulty, i think i'll need to split tables at this point :?

Regarding a guide: i'll soon write it, i.e. when DEL passes me a few infos on the game

At any case: there are three bonuses at the end of a play/loop: % of destroyed enemies, % of secrets uncovered, the "guts" vote. The last one is basically a vote based on how much you were aggressive (i.e. spent time in the upper part of the screen) or point-blanked stuff.

Hey Rando - my score should be above yours in training. And my training score (900k) somehow ended up in the novice score table too.

Well guys, to compete on full arcade settings, you should switch to "Arcade". If it's not your cup of tea, i can make separate tables, of course :?

Well I find normal to be quite hard already :D but I wouldn't mind it being changed to Arcade only.

Nice pics.

Anyone have any advice for level 5's boss? I was playing boss-mode yesterday and that thing wipes the floor with me. The red-form especially.

Level 1 - Center of the crater.
Level 2 - Just after the trees and before the water, left side of the screen, a few ship lengths below the patch.
Level 4 - At the beginning of the stage there's a three sided stone structure on the right side. Inside of that.

Randorama: I just checked my data and the score was on normal difficulty, so you can scratch that one off.

Please for the love of all that is holy, make a separate table for normal and arcade difficulties.

This game goes from being a great shooter to being a mother fucking whore on arcade. I literally take no pleasure from playing this game on arcade as it is completely cheap. Tanks insta-shoot you as they roll in on the side. Stuff shoots too fast. I suck at Arcade.

Man, I thought I'd be all relaxed tonight after a day at the shooting range. Wrong, arcade brought out the bad in me :(

Things I learned tonight after playing on Arcade.
  • PSOne controllers are less durable than PS2 controllers.
  • TV -vs- PSOne Controller ... TV wins
  • Me -vs- PSOne Controller ... I win
  • The controller can have it's little vibrating mechanism ripped out and thrown at the floor.
  • The little vibrating mechanism though made of steel, can still bounce a good 7 feet in the air.
  • Watch where the little mechanism lands, because it hurts to step on, being steel and all.
(All my previous scores were on Normal)

Here's arcade:

Landshark - Training - Mother Fucking Whore Difficulty - 2,729,400
Landshark - Novice - Mother Fucking Whore Difficulty - 1,343,390

Strange how my score went up a million in training. Finally figured out how to get the gold crystal on the area with the 8 silos in a big circle then 4 in the center. That nets you alot of points. Then got a 1.1 million bonus when I died.

I'd still like to know what all the japanese means at the score tally. My % numbers keep going up... got a 600something% on the last number this time. But my red number keeps going down. It was a 40.

Please make a Normal table. Please. I don't want my Raiden DX disc following me to go skeet shooting next month :(

Tables splitted, please check and point out all mistakes :?

Bizarre the gap in difficulty between the two levels, though...

landshark, you're right arcade mode is very cheap, altho i have to resist throwing the joypad anywhere since its one of Matts special converted thingys that lets you use a saturn pad, - its just too expensive to break and i love it like i love my pet moose.

Anyways, arcade mode is great for making you good at normal mode tho suddenly my scores have taken a big leap up, will post them later
