I'm interested in firing up Giga Wing tonight to give this a shot... I'm a deflector whore in that game and begin to abuse it pretty much right from the get go. I never even considered not using it.Nuke wrote:clear GigaWing without using the deflector?

I doubt it's possible to 1cc Mars Matrix without using the reflector but it would be interesting to see if it was possible.
Ikaruga is impossible to clear without changing polarity, that has been proven in many parts of the game. Chapter 1 can be passed with 1 polarity, but every other level requires both to survive.
I'd also like to see some Radiant Silvergun stuff, like using only one weapon for the entire game, or clearing the game without levelling up at all with at least one weapon.

Sometimes i find myself overusing the sword like this which usually results in my death. It's just so fun to get up in the enemies face with it.kengou wrote:I'd also like to see some Radiant Silvergun stuff, like using only one weapon for the entire game, or clearing the game without levelling up at all with at least one weapon.

I think it's possible to avoid these if you are right at the top of the screen.JJG wrote:Yeah for Ikaruga you'd have to switch, parts like level 3 where the lazers come horizontally across the screen.
The homing lasers of the last boss though...
I think somebody already did a 0-point superplay of GigaWing, probably achieved without using the barrier at all.

This isn't totally true. It's possible to beat levels one, two and three without changing polarity (it's even possible to do so without firing a shot.) The level four midboss, on the other hand, is impossible without changing polarity. And, as was mentioned before, the second-to-last boss is impossible as well.Ikaruga is impossible to clear without changing polarity, that has been proven in many parts of the game. There's a video knocking around somewhere of a gradius V 1cc without using options. Probably on super-play.

I'm sure it is possible. I'll try this. It'll give me an excuse to make a new video if it is somewhat interesting.kengou wrote:I doubt it's possible to 1cc Mars Matrix without using the reflector but it would be interesting to see if it was possible.
The last boss would be really brutal in Giga Wing.

There's a MAME replay of this. I think Icarus has it + the emulator used, he should upload it but doesn't seem very interested in doing so.Nuke wrote:One lifed Battle Garegga?

The game's true last boss would probably be a pain in the ass indeed.
The actual "Giga Wing" ship (stage 6) wouldnt be QUITE that bad, though.
I should give this a shot..... could prove amusing......

Level 2 has the alternating lasers during the crate section that I don't think is possible to get past without changing polarity. Level 3 might be possible actually, I just thought about it and you might be able to get through the boss by hiding behind the rotating walls while the multi-polarity lasers rotate around. I'd love to see evidence in the form of a video of someone getting through these stages with one polarity but I really doubt it's possible.Zebra Airforce wrote:This isn't totally true. I think i saw 1LC on youtube =\BiQ wrote:... 1LC of hibachi's 3rd form in DOJ? In every single video I have seen player loses at least one ship. (including the dvd that comes with PS2 version)
... Without using a single bomb?
It does not seem fundamentally impossible, (like Ikaruga w/o switch) just freakishly hard.
