I actually had the F3 carts of the remaining two games for a bit, didn't really notice much diff between them and the Saturn versions to be honest though I'm told that the F3 versions have extra scroll layers & background zooming which the developer coudn't quite get its head around.
The company that ported Gekirindan wasn't very talented. Too bad it wasn't made by Aisystem Tokyo or Ving who were responsible for most of the Taito games on Saturn.
Virgin didn't port it, Taito did the porting themselfs. It's just Virgin publishing it.
JoshF isn't talking about Virgin. He's talking about Japan Media Programming, the company that developed or co-developed all of the games on the page he linked to. Apparantly, Taito didn't to the porting of Gekirindan to Saturn, Japan Media Programming did.

Heh.. sounds about right ;)

Mind you wasn't AIsystems port of Darius Gaiden not quite right re. background layer/zooming effects also? (I'm only able to compare it with the Taito Collection version as I never got hold of the F3cart)

You mean the one song that they remixed five times, once for each level?
I liked that one song!

It wasn't a perfect port but it did have all the effects IIRC with some slowdown. Ving's ports were betters though.

I haven't played the Saturn port, but most posts I read here suggest that that slowdown in the Saturn Darius Gaiden is minimal and nowhere near the PSX or PS2 versions. Is it really not the arcade slowdown?
