Trizeal (DC) is here! Impressions...

davidholliss gave an outline, previously. Simply go to the TRIZEAL Dreamcast Internet Ranking page, click the button on the right to get to the Score Registration page. The fields are, from top to bottom: Password (from the game), name (to be displayed on the charts), E-mail address (to link you to your scores), and comment (be polite). The checkbox on the bottom is for your browser to remember your name and E-mail address for next time.postman wrote:Is anyone translating the net ranking table so we can enter scores?
The password from the game should include only letters, numbers 1-9, and the "?" and "@" symbols. Name can be 16 characters maximum, and comment can be 64 characters maximum. The system will send an E-mail to the address that you provide to confirm your entry--Be sure that you enter it correctly, otherwise the E-mail will bounce back, and the system will remove your score!
For reference; The button on the left at the TZDC Ranking page brings you to the View Ranking selection, and the buttons are, from top to bottom: Arcade mode, score attack 1-6 (a button for each), score attack Lifting, and score attack OMAKE.
I believe that it's this one, posted above by neoalphazero:nZero wrote:Where's that article?

Edit: Kosh beats me to the punch!

I'm not sure if you've discovered this already (or if it's supposed to be a secret!), but, it seems to use about 4, for me.nZero wrote:How many VMU blocks does the game's savefile take up?
There are a lot of references on the first page, I think. Are you asking because you like Chaos Field, or because you don't? I agree with serge; The two games are fairly different. In any case, there is plenty of useful information on these pages; Surely it is enough to help you decide whether or not Trizeal might be fun for you...uwfan wrote:thanks.....anyone else care to compare trizeal to chaos field?

OK, top box is for the code, second box is for the name you used on the in-game scoreboard (ot must be the same), third box is for your email address, fourth box is for any comments (these are displayed next to your score), then tick the bottom box and submitpostman wrote: Is anyone translating the net ranking table so we can enter scores?

EDIT: Doh, didn't read above post, sorry.

well Trizeal getting ripped means me in my poverty can have a play of it.
Did so tonight. Very nice game will def be bought when i get some spare cash.
First thoughts are:
nice simple game to play no hard to master complex scoring systems, i like the way your guns all power each other up once you get them to about level 3 or 4.
Nice simple scoring system that makes you choose between killing everything like i like to do or strategically shooting stuff to chain the bonuses I might have liked a little more actually, perhaps options and some more things to score off like scenery - but perhaps i just want Raiden or Garegga.
Also i thought the bosses could have had separate targetable bits to shoot off. Although these are just minor gripes considering i only turned it on to try out and ended up having 'one last go' for about an hour and a half
.
This is definitly my kind of shooter - may REALLY have to sell that kidney now.....

Well, I've played a bit of it. I have to admit that the graphics really disappointed me at first(and that intro scene is pretty lame too), plus the first stage was a cakewalk even for me. If you try to chain your medal collectin though its more fun than just bowling over the enemies. The game really starts to pick up after that though...I'm on level 4 and it's extremely entertaining, the graphics are pretty nice here too. The first thing I thought when I saw you coming up on Earth was that your ship must be HAULING ASS

I got my copy yesterday and only reached the stage 4 boss so far. From what I've seen of the game I can tell that it's exactly the game I was hoping for. It's just so much fun. I can easily foresee me spending many a happy hour on it.
It isn't as old-skool as I expected and has more of an early 90s feel to it. The only real old-skool bit is the stage 3 boss with all its gunpods, which feels so Compile-ish to me that I can't stop grinning while fighting it.
So thumbs up from me.
I can understand, though, why it has failed in the arcades. An arcade game needs more than good gameplay to make the people put coins in it and I don't know if I had given Trizeal a try if right next to it stood a Mushihime Sama cab, as Trizeal's gfx are indeed not too hot (despite the great choice of colours), although they get better the further you progress.

Just got it today. The farthest I got in this game is...
...the Triangle Service logo. -_-
Seems that my Trizeal GD-ROM came with a noticeably deep hairline scratch along the outer portion of the disc. The game tries to load the title screen for around 30 seconds, fails, and resets to the Dreamcast system screen. Whee.
So I'm going to have to resort to either downloading it, or finding a shop that can get another copy to me with EXTREME haste, until my replacement ships from Play-Asia (which will probably take a week or more, if I ship it out on Monday morning). Wasn't planning on even attempting to do so...but I was planning on recieving a game that actually worked. I always get screwed :/
...and the bonus CD is fucking ace...wow.

Hey zimeon, thanks! That makes a lot more sense.

(Okay, maybe I've been watching too much One Piece.)
Also; The way that AG says her own name at the end of the hidden track, sort of reminds me of Hitomi. I kind of like it.

I would hope that Play-Asia would send a replacement out a little bit more quickly, although I suppose that they would do so only if they had made a mistake. Hopefully you'll be able to join in on the fun, soon... I'm trying to think of a way that you could get the disc to load, but, I can't think of anything other than trying it in another DC, which you probably don't have access to and which probably wouldn't work anyway...
Hmm, that train of thought makes me wonder about something, though. Does anybody know if there are any omake PC items on the GD-ROM, found by placing the disc into a PC CD-ROM drive? Probably not, and I'm not expecting any hot wallpaper of the ships in amourous positions, but, just curious. About the PC content, not the sultry ships.
By the way; If the XIISTAG ship ends up placing high in the overall ranking, and decent amount of the prizes are awarded to those whom had used the ship, do you think:
a) That would be somewhat inappropriate! Man the A-1s and A-3s, let's show them the true way to score!
b) Hey, XIISTAG deserves to have its day, even if this starts an odd pattern and Trizeal ends up having its day for TS' next game.
c) Scoring's scoring! Let the best ship win.
PS- Congrats on the Internet ranking placing, everybody!
I'll be joining you soon, but I might be wearing the nice bandana, so, try not to step on my head.
I just noticed after the fifth (or something) time listening to it that Avant Girl says "Trizeal" in Infinite Horizon, and of course she also says "Triangle Service." I felt upon listening to it, and hearing their name, that these guys certainly do paint a picture as to where their hearts are, and the endless possibilities available when you follow your dream!Thunder Force wrote:Track 3: Infinite Horizon - 3:25

Ok - a few more questions about Trizeal:
Does net ranking only work on normal mode? It took me a while to find out where to find the password (in ranking section), and it wasn't there until I started to play on normal more. I guess they want a standard difficulty to level the playing field?
Also, it doesn't seem to be saving any of my score attacks (I know the autosave works, since my credits keep going up.) When I check the ranking for score attacks and Lift! they are always showing up no data. Anyone know why they aren't saving?

Possibly because you're not at the top of the specific highscore table (like not beating the perest scores...)postman wrote: Also, it doesn't seem to be saving any of my score attacks (I know the autosave works, since my credits keep going up.) I turned autosave on at the start and both my lifting and score attack scores are automatically save and displayed in the Ranking section.

It's all working fine now, I think it was because it wasn't saved on normal settings..........I'm getting score attack and regular passwords no problem........
Another thought about the rock guy in level 2 and the lift minigame:
He seems completely out of place. Do you think maybe TS is trying to mimic the Moai heads from Gradius? Having a stone based figure as a kind of mascot?

To get the lifting minigame to work you need the following:

Trizeal in TATE mode =
Well, it's time to get a TATE set-up for me. This is the ONLY way to play Trizeal. And the gameplay is Soooooo tight! Kind of reminds me of a cross between Layer Section(sans lock-ons) and Raiden-but with a brand new system of switching weapon systems in the game-sort of like...Override if I'm not mistaken. The "bomb" is very satisfying. Like when the screen fades back in and it's like..."hey, where did everybody go?...oh, yeah! Ya'll DEAD!" I could dedicate a weekend or more to this.
Good work Triangle Service!

Here's why I'm still on the fence about this game, maybe one of you can convince me...
1. 'It's better than Chaos Field' isn't really that strong of a recommendation. Will it get any playtime considering I own masterpieces like Batsugun, DDP, just got jpn PSX Strikers 2, etc.
2. Kiken's st5 video - not trying to diss the guy but I wasn't just trolling when I said the video turned me off to the game. Those cannon's aren't even pointed towards you, it makes it look like one of those easy pc engine shooters. I'm not seeing the post stage 4-franticness people have mentioned, I don't see how you could even die with patterns like that (not trying to insult anyone's skill since I haven't seen the 4th stage). Anyways, I don't want to wait for it to get to the 4th stage for it to get fun/hard...do higher difficulty settings solve this problem?
And of course the 'keep the company in business' argument is now null as they've succeded, for better or worse. I doubt buying a copy would even profit them at this point, just the stores that have stocked up, it'd just make it sell out faster.
Not that I'd pirate the warez release, not at all. I agree it was low of them to release it, at least this early in the game when copies can still be bought. But the same could be said of any warez release...some people just aren't going to buy the games no matter what.
Please try to keep any responses intelligent/rational...I don't think I came off as too flamey

After seeing the first stage, (well, listening to the music CD that came with the game, which is a throwback to the Genesis days) I can feel the love put into this game, although I can see why people wouldn't play this at arcades though. The first problem is the game's attract mode is terrible. Heck, those textures look like they could've come from an early 90's PC game (Stellar 7 anyone?). The game text quality is a throwback to what I'd be looking at if I were playing my Saturn right now.
Everything else about the game is really well done though. The ship transformations between different attack modes looks cool. Your bomb reminds me of Raycrisis' Round Divider attack, but feels more destructive. The boss explosions are awesome to look at.
Once you pass stage 3, the game hates you, especially the bosses. That's a good thing.
The only real gripe I have about the game is that anything those ground-based machines throw at you is instantly on your altitude instead of reaching your altitude a split-second later after you see the projectile fire from the target. After playing too much of the Ray series, this is a bad habit to get rid of.

You probably are, Override for the PCE has the traditional "pick up different colored power-ups for different weapons"-thing going on.Nate wrote:but with a brand new system of switching weapon systems in the game-sort of like...Override if I'm not mistaken.

Neon> Yeah, I wish people would not compare it to Chaos Field...I mean, I know they are comparing it because it is the most recent DC shooter, but clearly the games have nothing in common. Most people are comparing it to a 16 bit era game, which may or may not attract you. I'm expecting sort of a modernish toaplan-style game with psx era graphics. That said though, my biggest worry is that it is more like Shienryu Explosions which I didn't like at all.

I also discovered that there is a safe spot when battling the dragons. Try standing dead still in the centre of the dragons!

Really? I'll have to try that, as the dragons are pretty nasty. That means standing in the very center of the screen, right?rtw wrote:I also discovered that there is a safe spot when battling the dragons. Try standing dead still in the centre of the dragons!

damn beaten to it. i was going to talk about the dragons. Yeah i can get them without bombing i just use the two lasers shot what ever that is called. The dragons are worth a considerable amount of points if you can chain the bonuses.
Also the rock man dude i've bounced the rock off my ship about 6 or 7 times the last time gives you 10,000 points so its well worth pretty much ingnoring everything else on the screen and hitting that.
Neon:
the best way to describe this game is it is like Layer Section but without the lock on thing. Then add a bonus chaining system similar to Garegga and a three weapon system similar to Raiden. I'd say Trizeal isnt a better game than any of the above but it's certainly hot on their heels. btw i d/l'd it to give it a go and fully intend to buy it at some point, - so dont feel guilty just think of it as a try before you buy, if you're still not sure. Of course if you only like your shooters hard and mean a la Cave then you probs wont like this.
