What do you think of this VGA box?

If anyone has it or has seen it, how does it look in comparison to say, the DC VGA box or an XRGB? Is this a good alternative to one? Or better go for the real thing?

(Though a modded Xbox able to output emulated games on prog component at 480P is pretty much all I need for my games, with the exception of the PS1 and Saturn)

For Specineff,

It would be best to pick up such a Japanese 21-pin RGB cable set for your XBOX and an Microcom produced XRGB-2 upscan convertor (this is the one that can produce those "fake" scan lines for completeness) -- can't go wrong with that setup. ^_~

The DC VGA box forces your Dreamcast to output 480p and I recommend no hardcore gaming Dreamcast owning be without this when they have an actual tv that support vga. About the linked item; this device converts 480i into 480p. I would stay away from this device. But it all depends exactly what your set up is and what you want. Well offcourse you want the best possible image quality :D
Let us know your set up. tv's/monitors and your consoles. We'll sort you out. Oh and before I forget, I expect Strider77 to show up for the party as well amongst others.

I plan on getting a Vizio 32 Inch LCD. We use that at church and I tested it using my DC VGA and VOOT. I have no problem with 720x480 if all the games will look the way VOOT did (Of course, it's a DC we're talking about 8) ) I will hook up the DC via VGA, the modded Xbox (which doubles as SNES, Genny, Sega CD, PCECD and MAME) directly via component with Prog scan enabled, so this is being bought more for the PS1/PS2 games.

Any more suggestions are accepted.

At PCE FX: Yes, the XRGB would rock as I'd be able to hook up a Saturn and use pure RGB, but alas, that byotch is hard to get.

I would not recommend such a device for 15khz.

XRGB is the best option here without a doubt.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

But it takes component, which is supposedly as good as RGB. Isn't it?

Technically speaking, "component" is equivalent to RGB in terms of colour clarity and quality of signal.

YCrCb (what most people mean when they say "component") will need to be transcoded back to RGB (unless your monitor has YCrCb inputs already). That results in slight lag, depending on the quality of the transcoder.

Low-res YCrCb will need to be upscaled/deinterlaced/frame-combined, which results in more lag. In this instance, RGB/SCART is preferred, as it's already RGB anyway, saving the transcoding step.

High-res YCrCb will simply be transcoded and passed through. In that instance it again boils down to the quality/speed of the transcoder on board.
