You do realize that you were born in the same year as MSX basic, right!? :P
(if you´re not to become 25 this year already that is...)

That´s sick for an MSX-ophile. ;)

Yes. :D And I've begun learn it very young... as nerdy as it may sound, when I was starting learning to read back at 3-4 years old, I would always pick-up the MSX Basic books that came with the system to read. At some point I begun typing the programs....... and now I am working here as a full-time programmer, heh :) Actually my mother always says how the MSX was an integral part of me learning to read so well while still at a such young age.

Logo my ass, MSX Basic is much more efficient for children :)

Jesus, I'm gonna be just like you when I grow up. Except I started posting about a month before my 16th birthday.

I think I posted my age. 32... quite a bit of mileage as well. Generation X is the best b/c we can fully appreciate the 80's, especially the bad 80's years (80, 81).

Well, it'll probably go through another revision before that. Can somebody here that has been around longer then dirt tell me how many revisions this forum has gone through?

Any of my friends that didn't fail math class can at least appreciate how awesome shmups are. Too bad none of them except maybe one have taken enough of an interest to actually purchase any.

I'm 28 as of July 2nd.
I feel neither young nor old, just 28 ;)

My 1st Shmup was Scramble (Konami) in summer 1986 at a small Luna Park Arcade Hall next to the beach. I was about 6 years old then and I remember begging my grandma for quarters to play over and over again; I just couldn't pass the 2nd level ;)

At that time, I also remember an older girl (she must have around 25?) 1’ccing Rygar on another arcade cabinet! She was really good and I was thinking that this game was supposed to be played by older kids, which would explain her performance, but after trying Rygar my self 20 years later and getting killed at the 2nd level, I can see now that she was really good! ;)

But the shoot em ups that got me hooked to the genre were Life Force (NES) in 1990 and Thunder Force III (Mega Drive) in 1991.
Truly awesome times, nostalgia can be a powerful thing.

I am 24.

One of my most vivid gaming memories was secretly playing Probotector on my first-gen Gameboy because my mom thought it was too brutal (and yes, Probotector is Contra but with robots instead of humans).

In 2007 my little brother can play GTA San Andreas during dinner shooting people with the shotgun and all my mother says is "please turn down the volume".

Times have changed!

Holy shit, you're a youngster. If you're 15 now and joined the forum in '05 then I think you've been the youngest person here for the last almost 3 years.

LOL, nice :)

I started posting here (mk2) because I had just gotten DoDonPachi for Saturn and wanted to learn more about it and find more games like it. These days I still play plenty of shooters but I don't feel like there's much to talk about on the subject. Not for me anyway since I'm not especially good at them and definitely don't care too much about improvement. Occasionally if I get a shooter and I don't quite have the hang of it (Radirgy comes to mind) I'll read up on the main forum or strategy one but mostly I just leave the on topic pages for the on topic people.

So now you all have to deal with me over here in Off Topic

PaCrappa, in all the years you've been posting here, have you ever forgotten to sign 'Pa' at the end of one of your posts?
