how to dismantle a cps1 pcb?

Post by mirkvid »

hey all, i have a pretty dirty SF2 turbo board i want to clean it up, but i dont know how to separate the top board from the bottom one. looks like they are connected by those grey snaps, but i cant figure out how to separate them without doing damage.
any hints?

just pull them apart.

put your fingers on the top board and push the mobo off with your thumbs.
sometimes they stick like hell tho so you might want to use a pencil or something else that wont damage the board to pry them open.
the destruction of everything, is the beginning of something new. your whole world is on fire, and soon, you'll be too..

I just pry them apart from the front side (front to me being the JAMMA connector) with one hand gripping each board and it's way easier than what Sven said. It probably flexes the boards like crazy though, but you get a lot more leverage so the connectors come apart very easily.
