The end of Oddworld....

Post by Ord »

...in video games at least. I'm actually very saddened by this as i've always been keen on the Oddworld games, and i think the last game "Strangers Wrath" is one of the finest titles to grace the Xbox ever.

Bullshit. Utter bullshit.

This guy always wanted to get into movies and TV from the start. Also the article doesn't mention the dirty trick he pulled on his employees by firing them after the release of Munch's Oddyssey so they didn't get any royalties. At the end, he's only failing himself since now he won't get to tell his wonderful tale in the five installments he wanted.

The comments about movies close to the end of the interview sound arrogant. Sure. You do your Toy Story for 35 million. And when it doesn't sell, blame it on the staff because they couldn't share your artistic vision.

Now if you excuse me, I'm going to watch some paint dry. That's more interesting to me at the moment.

(Sorry if I sound harsh. The series has been brilliant from the start, but this guy's arrogance equals a roll of sandpaper in the bathroom to me.)
Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.

What an asshole. He even looks like one. What happened to the other co-creator?

What an arrogant idiot. Apparently Lanning never heard of the "success" Square had when FF: Spirits Within bombed. I hope his animation venture tanks and bombs just for the sake of all the employees he axed.

I'm no expert of the Oddworld games, I like their style and all but if he plans on making any animated films based on their little animated intermissions...well that is a big risk in and of itself.

But ya know Lanning, he and the Munch name are too big for the game industry now.

EDIT: I forgot to add, he better have one heckuva competent writing team.

*high fives shmup-o's*

Awesome, I didn't know there were others here with such hatred for Lorne. The guy' a douche, I don't care for him.

Kinda weird how he's backing out because of the gaming industry (mainly because of EA), like how in his games Abe and the gang were against the monolithic corporation (EA..).

The sad thing is, Lanning is so dumb he probably thinks he can make a better movie than Pixar right out of the gate. I predict his animation venture will bomb. Then he will be forced to try and return to the gaming scene as another Trip Hawkins type who gives occasional bland quotes of "insight" to gaming magazines on other more successful companies. EX: Ya know how sometimes a gaming mag will ask someone like Trip "What do you think company A should do to make this situation better and will their next system be successfu?" Trip: "Well company A definitely needs to do this, and less of that, ect."

Ahh, Trip and his neverending road of failures and incorrect predictions after leaving EA...

Ah, that's the thing about these guys and their egos. Eventually, reality comes and pulls the rug right out from under them. Lanning will be selling his multi-million dollar home at a loss in a couple of years.

In Nelson's (from the Simpsons) voice: "Ha Ha!!"

Ha-ha. Then he will have to camp out in someone's backyard. "Campers pampers! Ha-ha!"
