Off topic, but I was thinking about picking up Raiden DX. Does it have better graphics than Raiden 2(I used to own RP)? Also, what are the differences between the two? Sorry to hijack the thread, but hopefully this can be answered in one post.

I have Raiden Fighters 2 but what do folks think of the other 2 raiden fighters games when compared with 2 (the one i own). I am debating picking them up.

RF1: Fun. Learn not to rely on staying near enemies since most of the later ones have no cease-fire zone. Second loop too easy.
RFJ: Awesome. Exactly like Raiden DX in that to do all the big-time tricks requires that you pull teeth to do so, only this time it feels good.

Raiden DX has virtually no graphics changes from Raiden 2, but it adds a number of gameplay mechanics.

Actually, if we have to keep games that work in Mame, I don't think we have too many choices

It's the thres RF games, Viper Phase 1, Raiden and Air Raid... and that's all!

As I don't think anyone will want to play Air Raid....

Probably not Raiden Fighters Jet either. It's emulated but I think you need a pretty powerful PC. All I get on mine is massive frameskipping.

You can use WolfMAME .103-.106. System requirements aren't as high.

People voted for really weird things for asinine reasons (see certain STGT 2006 weeks). Since I can count the amount of people who own any part of the Raiden Fighters series on one hand and I can't do so on two hands for the Raiden Project, that's one factor.

b/c it's about as meat and potatoes as you can get.... it's blah but has it's place in history.

kinda like, why would you play SF2 when you can play Super SF2 Turbo or even just SF2 Turbo.

ohh i see. they'd rather play something they own pcb/console or whatever (and possibly better at) than something on mame.
