Now I'm playing Chaos Field. It's great fun playing for score, and a really underrated game in my opinion.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Just played some Battle Bakraid.
It's one of my favorite shmups, it's simply fun to play.

Soukyugurentai (Saturn) just kicked my ass, harshly. I'm gonna play it some more later on tonight.

yeah, it took me a while to be able to take him out reliably. after a while though, i got to the point where i could one life through him pretty easily. and then i tend to die 3 times in stage 3...

I keep forgetting that he has that stupid giant laser; if Im gonna go down in that fight, it'll be because of that.

Very blasted annoying.....

I play Cyvern and Battle Bakraid. But I always come back to DDP. It's also the game I've spent the most time on. I usually die somewhere on level 5.

This was actually the next game I wanted to play for reviewing purposes, but that works too. Being prepared for the worst, that is.

Speaking of practice, do you guys think Darius Gaiden has any chance of being selected over Progear?

Re MM's orange ship: It's like strapping on a backpack full of rocks and going for a jog. If I'm playing poor or unfocused it helps a lot in tightening up the chain routine (the same basic chains can be done with both ships). If you can get the stage chains down with that slow speed you can tear it up with the blue ship. Feels a lot more free. Bonus Pro Tip for you, shoesama.

But everyone here knows I have weird taste in games.

If this was some alternate dimension with a shmupsforum filled with Cave-haters, then maybe.
Although I'd ROFL if it happened.

I don't know, there might be an equal number of people who'd support Darius Gaiden. I think the fact that there are a constant stream of new Cave games (new games get talked about a lot more than old ones) might be distorting their popularity a bit (with the Cave-only collectors adding to it). Progear isn't their most popular game either. Let's look at the charts!

Top 25 voting:
G.Darius : 2.990885 19.899200 0.632194
Progear no Arashi : 2.963874 20.548800 0.580563
Donpachi : 2.921883 18.491200 0.670154
Darius Gaiden ...

Darius' best seems to hang pretty well with Cave's least favored games.

Yeah. For real. That ship is super weak compared to the blue ship.

The caveat is that it's awfully difficult to actually get to that power with the orange ship.

Right now I'm playing the worst shmup ever, squeezing in some real gaming every now and then and practicing Raiden Fighters Jet only to be later shocked and awed at how many people idiot voted Raiden 1 just because their computer can run it/they own the Raiden Project.

Honestly, if we weren't on the same team I think I would idiot vote for Raiden so I can play and take a nap at the same time. I actually like those early Raidens.

More of Strikers.

And GAH I just haaaaaaaaaaate that part with the big rocket that splits into pieces and sprays crap at me in stage 6..... well, that's MOST of stage 6.

Easily the most irritating level in the game, for me. The boss at the end isnt too bad; but that stupid rocket sure is annoying....

Gragh. I use so many bombs there.

There's no point in playing Raiden 1 when there's Viper Phase 1 and Raiden 2/DX, though.
