25 cent (US quarters :) Coin mechs and Japanese candy cabs.

Post by Battlesmurf »

Well, I have a few Super Neos and Egret 2s- I want to install 25 cent coin mechs on these things- does anybody have any ideas on how to do this- or where to buy the parts? I am very curious. Thanks a bunch!

Yes, the 100 Yen coin mechs can be tweaked to accept US quarters. Just keep trying to figure it out and you will get it...its just moving a couple of the screws.

You will need to file the coin slot opening part on the top of the control panel to allow a Quarter to go in if it can't already. Thats the hardest thing, as you need a really skinny file (can find them at Home Depot).

haha..turns out I had it right the first time- the actual switch at the bottom is dead (it gets stuck). Well, the mechanical part works great :) I have heard on the other forum (neo-geo:) that a comparitor is worth looking into as well :) (especially if I have to replace anything as it is)

I saw that thread on Neo-Geo. No need to get a comparitor unless you are putting this machine out on location and suspect people will be using slugs. If this machine is staying at home, just use the normal coin mech.
