New Star Soldier for Wii

Post by ARCADIA »

Takahashi posted about the game called "Star Soldier R" for Wii in his blog,
the game will be shown at Caravan 07 and classic controller will be used.

There's no specific plan for release now, but he said "he wants to release the game".

so, what do you think "R" stands for?

Intriguing. As much as I dig Star Soldier and caravan, I almost hope it'd just be a new version of the Star Soldier remake we've already seen on PS2/Cube/PSP just so I don't even have to contemplate about importing a JPN Wii and then having to deal with the fact that it won't do RGB.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

There are already several Wii mod chips that allow you to play imports. I read about there being chips that allow you to run EU and JAP games on a USA console; so mod chips for playing imports on European Wiis can't be far away, maybe they already exist. Since non-Euro Wiis don't have RGB, modding a Euro Wii sounds like the much better option anyway.

What can I say, Nintendo was practically asking for it. That's what you get for forcing region locking on people.

Nintendo is not banging on the table, "damn they made a modchip for it". They are laughing all the way to the bank. Sony might just be losing money by making a user-friendly region free console. And what kind of thanks do they get from the hardcore public? Why would you want RGB from your Wii, when there is progressive component that poops all over interlaced RGB.
But, this is an interesting topic because by having a region free console, mod chip makers cannot hide behind the fact that it is to be used for import games. Sony is going to sue anybody even attempting to make mod chips so hard that they will think twice about it. Interesting strategy. I think that there is already a scene for downloadable Wii games through newsgroups. But then again, Nintendo fanboys buy their games. Sony and Microsoft gamers tend to lean more towards illegal copies.

I just learned that Nintendo has already revised the Wii twice in the past 6 month in a futile attempt at stopping mod chips. Doesn't sound like they are laughing very hard.

PS.

The thing is is that mod chips are inevitable when security is not taken into consideration. Clearly Nintendo didn't put their focus there. So it is no surprise. The laughing all the way to the bank part was about the huge profits Nintendo is currently enjoying and was not really that related to this subject. . Sony might just be losing money because the region free concept stimulates importing. This could mean that if I buy a game from Japan, Sony actually sees less profit than if I were to buy the game locally. Which is really why region lockout was invented in the first place. + importing costs leave a gamer with less money to spend on games. I create a console in Japan. Do I want a Dutch consumer to buy 3 games locally or buy 2 imported games.
Do the math.
I have some Nintendo fanboy friends who are eagerly awaiting Paper Mario to be released in Europe. If they want the game so bad, they should either mod their console or buy a US Wii. I mean if they are that eagerly awaiting it. Instead they were playing some crap cow throwing Ray man wii game and then we did the brain academy. The call me the classic game player and laugh at me. They are wrong and I'm right. I want to battle them with racing and fighting games. They want to poop with their wiimotes :o

Mmm, new Star Soldier. Here's hoping that THIS one gets released in the US. Even if it is just a rehash of the cube one, that one's hard enough to locate as it is!

So, what do you think is coming out first? Wii Crow or Wii Star Soldier R?
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Interesting-but then why don't companies ban the sale of used games-they're not making any money off of those. I wonder if the Freeloader still works on the Wii. In any case, I'd love to see another Star Soldier! Hudson did a fantastic job with PSP Star Soldier, although I've yet to play the Cube/PS2 Star Soldier.

Sony made the PS3 region free because there is feck all out for it on any region. :?

Is this not also the case for the Wii? The feck all out part, not the region free part...

For dave, I think the Freeloader still works, but it's only for GameCube games, naturally.

Did they already try to ban the re-sale of games (in Japan)?

They also say "For sale and use only in Japan" so that makes almost everyone here a criminal.

I think you don't fully comprehend the legal system. :P

That: "no resale" is very funny.
Did they confuse it with "not for sale" on demo games? What was the actual purpose here?
*confused*
What about [for use only in Japan] that like most Capcom pcb's have.
I can't imagine there are any legal rules to back that.
Do things exist that cannot be used in other areas?
I can think of guns and bullets and soft-drugs outside of the Netherlands, but as far as games go I can't imagine anything is illegal anywhere. Perhaps some countries might have stricter rules for unlicensed stuff like: modchips

Sounds interesting, I loved the original Star Soldier games, in particular Soldier Blade.

I never checked out the N64 and later versions are they worth playing?

I've seen many arcades here in Brazil that had the "If you are using this outside of Japan, you are involved in a criminal act" sentence... and you can change Japan for any other country or area that is NOT Brazil or South America.

And still I believe most of those games were bought legally. Except by Capcom or SNK, I can't right now remember any other arcade company that actually cared enough about our market to make versions for us. Still we had games from lots of different companies, and I really do believe they were bought legally.

Like I said, just because a company says you can't do such and such, that doesn't mean you really legally can't.

The "no resale" logo which can be found on Japanese videogames from 1998 onwards was a failed attempt by Japanese game companies at keeping people from selling used games. Of course it didn't work.

Didn't the first release of Sonic the Hedgehog say "not for resale" on it with Sonic waving his finger disapprovingly?

I actually think that was the Pack-in cart with the Genesis, not the first release. But I could be mistaken. I know that Sonic 2 had the big yellow sticker on the front of the Genesis cart that said "Not for Resale" on it.

those were both pack-ins. The original retail carts didn't have a resale warning on the label.

Looks nice. Doesn't look like there are any motion-sensing bullcrap controls either, I'm pretty sure that's a Classic Controller he is using, there is a cord going to a Wii Remote on the table.

Was that an isometric view/level (similar to raystorm/raycrisis)? Are all the levels going to be like that? Looks great, just concerned its returning to its N64 days.
