Wow, you guys are blowing my mind with this stuff. I doubt I'll ever have space for a cab. Maybe when I'm really old and my kids have moved out.

CIT, do you have other pcbs? I thought you collected only console stuff for some reason.

Yeah, I have about 6 or 7. However, I don't buy a lot of PCBs, and I only get stuff that didn't already get ported. I play them with a supergun, as getting into cabs is a bit too much for me.

Nope, it was on the Kansas City craigslist. I did see the one in bay area as well (when I was looking for info on the cab), but this one was cheaper (and in better condition I think).

Raiden fighters and blazing star
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Nice purchases!

I have Zing Zing Zip too. I played it a bit recently, the last stage still spanks me. I'm sure its just a route thing but a replay would help :? .

What a damn lucky bloke (say, didn't it "break the bank" upon purchasing it?)... ^_~

and all I have is a standard Cave Ibara PCB kit with included Cave factory box as well -- what am I missing here? ^_~

Anyways, congrats and enjoy it to the fullest.... ^_~

You're not missing anything, you have the better game. The artwork included in an Ibara kit is better as well (Black Label's art is complete blah).

It was expensive but no banks were broken ;)

From my fairly limited playtime so far, I wouldn't say you're actually missing anything. I prefer it to the original Ibara, I had real problems with that and the Cave style hitbox suits my skills (or lack of) better. It seems to fire more bullets but I feel like I have a chance of avoiding them - certainly in the original I was never able to dodge within the thicker patterns, and I can do that on BL. As for whether it's a better game or not? I don't feel qualified to say at this time, it's certainly different.

I don't have the original artwork to compare to, I have no opinions on that, it's pretty enough. Box and art is already in storage with the other kits, I keep the Cave PCBs in a seperate box with their antistat bags and so on.

The whole scoring system in BL is based on slowly moving from right to left, or left to right in a level while you scratch bullets, or staying stationary up in the corner of a boss fight for FIVE MINUTES while you scratch bullets and increase your XTC multiplier to +9999. Once it's there, you bomb to cash it in (using another scoring system, the one with the +300 multipliers!), then start the slow process all over again. It was fun for a week or two, then it becomes a mix of boredom and frustration. They took the 9999 multiplier idea from this game and applied it to Mushi Futari's Maniac mode, and it's just a million times better in Futari.

However, if you just like to be able to control the rank better, have lots of weapons at your fingertips, and have a visible hitbox w/ a slower speed on the A shot, then BL is a good game for that.
As for whether it's a better game or not? I don't feel qualified to say at this time, it's certainly different.
Yeah, it's different. It has like 3-4 different scoring systems overlapping (only 1 really matters though), and for me, just too much crap going on.

Well, the Ibara artwork has all the lovely drawings of the Rose sisters. You don't get any of that in BL.
