Running the Denmark version, and the World version of Battle Garegga on MAME has me running into Access Violation errors mid-game. Which cause the game to crash and cite me a couple codes where the game f'd up. I've got a pretty new version of Mame32, and I've CLRMame'd my rom sets, but the errors won't go away. Sometimes I can manage to get far without it crashing, but inevetibly it usually crashes.
Anyone know the solution to this problem?
Also, how do I save state in Mame32, ... I'll just resort to using that if I can't fix this stuff. Thanks, team.

edit: can't decide whether or not to leave profanity in post
Check this shit out:
http://www.updatexp.com/0xC0000005.html
I'm voting on it being a bad driver.
Edit: Or bad RAM. What OS are you using?
Saving in Mame32 is accomplished by the arcane spell "hold Shift & F7, then select a number," not quite as quick as I'd like but it does the job alright.

I'm running WinXP Pro... I believe under SP2 as well.
I think you're aware but the error information is shown in the cmd prompt after it crashes. I'd cite it verbatim but I'm not using that computer right now.
So, I should enlist the aid of Microsoft to give me a hotfix for this problem? That article linked me to their help and support page.
Will doing any of this DEP stuff help me? I'm not sure.

No, not yet. I'd go and uninstall/reinstall some drivers. Anything that you've updated manually, well, uninstall its driver, and reinstall that completely.
Another thing you could try is this:
http://www.memtest.org/
Runs very quickly, although it's a pain if you don't have a free USB drive or a floppy to write it to. If red starts popping up on the lower half of the screen, you got problems.

I do not use the Microsoft Windows update stuff at all. I fresh installed with SP2. Although, I believe it has a bunch of those hotfixed pre-installed. Shall I get rid a bunch of those? I dunno if I can reinstall them that easily.
I'll try out MemTest and get back ..here, sometime soon. (I'm using Burger King's wireless internet at 2:19 AM in the US of A, heh heh)
Oh, I might as well get the newest version of Mame32... too.

Try older version (0.99 is the best IMO), new ones crash with Garegga (and Bakraid too). If other games do it too, something might be wrong with your PC.

Battle Garegga and Batrider started sporadically crashing somewhere around MAME 0.113. The problem that caused the crashes was fixed in the latest interim/unofficial release (0.117u1) but that version is somewhat buggy (as u1's often are), so you may want to use an older version for the Raizing shooters until 0.118 comes out.

0.118 is gonna be one cool version! Anyway, for any future bugs http://www.mametesters.org is the place to post. Also, I think a big THANK YOU to AWJ is in order (for submitting the fix)
