hmm, but I was under the impression that Never_Scurred is in the US as well and he mentioned he could access the site from work (but not from home...). So assuming (I seem to quite a bit of this in this postszycag wrote: Nobody in the US was able to access the boards, that I know of...

In the medical library at work, we have two setups. One for Washington University employees and associates(residents, attendings, med students, you get the picture) and another that runs directly on the hospital's network.Super Laydock wrote:hmm, but I was under the impression that Never_Scurred is in the US as well and he mentioned he could access the site from work (but not from home...). I could access the site fine on WU's network, but not from the hospital's network. I wish someone could explain to me why that was the case.

i took some networking class once
and like, for your computer to get to a website it needs to hop between like 30 or so computers in rapid succession. so one of these routers was acting up and just kept going in a loop. the people who could access the site were the people who weren't going through this router that was messing up. the internet is like a big connect the dots and one dot decided to be lame. that's the way i've explained it to myself

It could've been any number of things. A DNS problem, or a routing problem. Generally if you try to access the site by IP, and not name (anyone know the IP?) and it still doesn't work, someone somewhere has some shitty routing issues.
