The mag is out and I've bought a copy. Its a pretty decent 'history of'.

Just one question mark though:-
"Armed Police Batrider has probably found favour with most shoot'em up fans because it never appeared on a home system"
Wrong.
Not at all, its down to it being a good game with massive replay value.

Definitely not down to some kind of elitism, as hinted above.

Otherwise fine and nice to see Bloodflowers getting some airtime  .

Just a point to note for the magazine. There used to be a high score page in certain old games magazines in the UK. Would such a thing not be worth re-introducing? It would generate player interest and maybe increase sales.
Arcadia in Japan still do it.

Oh and its shmups.org not .com.

The forum is at shmups.system11.org , but the main site is www.shmups.com

Sometimes I think some people don't even know this forum is actually attached to a site.. :)

Anyway, any chances of getting this article scanned? I don't have any way to buy the magazine :)

Just a quick mail to say thanks to Bloodflowers and all the people who helped me out with this feature, and apology to those whose interviews got cut at the last moment :(

Bloodflowers checked through it before it went to press and he seemed to enjoy it, and while it's probably not going to be the article you were all hoping for, I've at least tried to ensure that this oft-neglected genre gets the appreciation it deserves.

Oh and as for Batrider, Idid cover myself by saying probably ;)

Not the most exciting of articles. 6 pages long and only gets to Batsugun on page 5? Now I havn't read it properly but these words are all my girlfiriends: "After so much time browsing a forum such as this, surely you could have gone much more in-depth? And do we really need to learn about centipede and Radiant Silvergun (i.e obvious) AGAIN?"

I'll read it at my own leisure tomorrow, but she is a moody missus altogther. Chars blud etc.

No magazine in the UK (with the exception of Retro Gamer) would commit more than six pages to one of the most niche genres around. I'm surprised even gamesTM allowed it.
As was mentioned previously, the article was never suppossed to tell you guys anything new, it was designed to give people who've never been interested in the genre, a decent starting point.

I'm sorry you and the missus weren't too keen on it though.

Which magazine will this article be in? The one with Mortal Kombat on the cover?
That is Galactic Dancing
