Wow, that sounds epic. Although you are right about that. When I discovered Gradius for the first time, it was indeed a beginning of a new gaming era for me. Good luck with the path you have chosen.
Thunder Force IV. I have been trying to 1CC this for a while, and I am getting closer. On my best runs, I can make it to the Bio-Base (Level 8), where I usually just die. But usually I just make stupid mistakes and die much earlier :-(.
I also remember my first time playing Gradius. It is what got me back into shmups after a several year hiatus. Gradius for the NES. Now that I have played the arcade version, Gradius for the NES sucked :-P. I can't forgive them for messing up the laser weapon...
Sonic Wings Special. I don't know why I bother when my TV cuts off the sides of the game screen (I've given up playing shooting games for score until I get a new TV.) At least I'll have Rabio Lepus unlocked soon.
Raiden III, and still trying to break 1 mil on Exed Exes. Playing purely for survival in 1942. This is all in addition to my hobby of recording Ghosts 'n' Goblins no-miss attempts for posterity.
I'm currenlty playing Dimahoo.
Because of the lack of watchable superplay videos for this game, I got the idea that I should try to come up with one (besides, I like the game). But I still suck atm so don't expect anything decent until 5 or 10 years

i recall seeing some pretty decent .inps (of course, those would be mame only)
Battle Garegga is pretty darn fun, and the meddling and scoring is pretty intuitive to figure out. I enjoy it, and when I discovered that there were more than 5 stages, but 7... (as far as I've gotten) I was shocked... in a good way.
Gradius 3 is interesting because it's harder than the SNES version, which I have played previously. It pisses me off, but I keep going back to it though. Fun stuff! And the walking sand lions are freakin' awesome! They weren't in the SNES version, I think.
(I've also resorted to using PS2 pad to play these... I have a lot more control than I do with the HRAP. But man. =D)
STG Weekly!, 1cc's, twitch, XBL: DJ Aquazition The in-game papers prove that being the paperboy is actually a position of the greatest importance,

yeah, it took me a while to be able to take him out reliably. after a while though, i got to the point where i could one life through him pretty easily. and then i tend to die 3 times in stage 3...
