Laptop computer S-Video to SDTV?

Post by Fighter17 »

I just found out that this Laptop with a ATi Radeon Xpress 200M supports S-Video output from the laptop.

Is it a good idea to get a cable so I can have a computer screen on a SDTV?

It would be great for MAME.

I think any time you can use S-video to "upgrade" your screen's viewable area without distortion is a good idea. It just uses the standard S-video cable right?

Is it a widescreen laptop, and is the screen you will use 4:3?

I tried mine (with a 4:3 VGA projector though, not a TV using S-video) for some Powerpoints and even after fiddling with the resolution so I am using a 4:3 on the laptop, I still get a wide screen that gets squished when using the projector.

I blame the common peoples who want a portable media centre in their laptops. I should have gotten a business model.

Might be something you want to check, though even if you get the same problem, maybe you can force MAME to output some funky resolution to counter it.

It's a widescreen laptop.

Has anyone did it with S-Video for MAME?
