I've got (and immediately sent to rtw) a pic of RF2's working board. No news about the non working boards, the guys are not internet addicted and it seemed impossible to have a human contact with them :?

The image I got which was not of the best quality looked like a totally legit board. I though RF2 had a non bootlegged board ?

So whats happened to this, are there bootlegged versions? I don't wanna spend $$$$ and then realised its a $100-$200 bootleg! :)

The situation unfortunately is still the same. In months I haven't had a single news from the guys :?
If those pics will eventually pop-up, I'll give them to rtw (and you guys) immediately!

Do you think it might just be some BS to scare people? Because a game as rare as this, there would loads of bootlegs around if it were available.

I believe you are correct, there would be a lot more (any?) bootlegs available if this was the case. Lets not forget the Japhei "english DDP III" rumor he started.

I remember that "English" language DDP-DOJ PCB rumor alrighty...Japhei couldn't even supply JPEG pics to document that rumor anyhow -- makes him a stinkin' liar outright. Just both the regular DDP-DOJ & 'Black Label' DDP-DOJ PCbs in Japanese Bios region format as Cave originally intended for the arcade PCB marketplace..... ^_~

OK, just found the right topic !

Just got the same problem with my DDP DOJ BLACK LABEL.
I wanted to change the battery before it start to leek on the board. Thinking that the battery should be replaced the same way that on a PGM slot I did not use a second one during the replacement like it should be done with CPS3 carts.
After I powered the board on the same ROM ERROR message apperead on screen, actually like rtw said dip settings can't do nothing to it.
I had the baord from a friend in Japan and it seems to be a legit one, I hope he will be able to find someone that could help me there.
I hope Cave at least could do something since the baord has not been shocked I have some hopes it's only an encryption problem...

here is the pic of my board :

Which cave pcbs have batteries? How often should they be changed?

I suppose all the PGM -hardware based PCBs and all the last cave 3RD generation ones . Until today I only knew that battery could be a problem for score saving but I was not thinking it could be one for an eventual ROM encryption... Such a pitty I discovered it with this one. I don't know hwo often it should be changed but I think you could easily go on for 5 years with no worry.
Now question is how to swapp it on those systems ???

First of all, could you show us a detailed hires picture of the PCB ?

I was under the belief that the battery was for the settings. Please try
powering the board and flicking the brown switch.

Also can you get into setup ?

Look at this picture:

Image

What is the number on the chip inside the red square (0014). Would be
good if all BL owners could do this BTW :D

Do you have a normal Dai-Ou-Jou PCB as well ?

The last generation ones (SH-3 ) use the battery purely for the
real time clock. I have analysed this on this page:

http://www.world-of-arcades.net/Cave/Ha ... rdware.htm

Maybe someone could do a trace of the PGM PCB to determine which
chips are powered ?

Hi thanks for your reply.

Yes, i have tried flicking the little brown switch, it did nothing and I am also not able to enter the settings menu. I have also tried a few combines with the dip switches on the side of the board but nothing happened and the baord stays on the ROM error message when I power it on.

I will take a picture for the chip you need, also I used to have a normal DAI OU JOU but not anymore

OK here are both chips :

Sure it would be so useful to plan a battery replacement method. Also the DOJ BL has two ROMS istead of the usual one the other games have, it would also probably change the trace ???

Now I am wondering if anyone has ever changed his battery on a DDP DOJ, KETSUI or ESPGALUDA board and if the problem would remain with those games too ?

Thanks for sharing this info LARGE KRO! I have a crusty battery on one of my Cave PGM board (forget which one) but haven't thought about replacing it since as rtw mentioned, its only for settings, which I usually keep at default anyway.

I really hope rtw can disprove this has any relation to the settings battery. I can't imagine these cave boards suiciding! They will go up even more in value!

If that is the case, then Ketsui PCB will increase in monetary worth than what it is currently trading at on the secondary arcade PCB markets.....

I guess you are right, but in my opinion it shouldn't as it will make the maintenance more difficult.
I hope someone soon find the way to make the battery patch for the battery replacement.

Besides DOJ BL is a special case for its battery. since it seems other PGM based games only loose their scores and settings when it comes to die.

Radiant could you please tell me what chip number you have on your BL ?

I must admit that I am slightly confused. I suggest someone friendly
with AMI ask them the question directly.

I believe the trace would be the same for both PCB's since the battery
section looks like it's the same.

LARGE KRO it would be interesting to try a normal Dai-Ou-Jou EPROM
in your defect BL PCB.
