Tumiki Fighters coming to Wii as "Blast Works"
It's being released by Majesco Entertainment.
Some highlights of the article include:
*2-player cooperative mode
*multiple in-game editors; build your own levels, ships, and enemy ships
*15 different land, air and sea missions
*defend the Hangar with the Wii Remote like an anti-aircraft turret to shoot down enemies
Here is a link to an article with some information and screenshots on it.

Lazy of me--is this something for the virtual console or will it be a real title (a critical point I think; If people are putting out things like Takumi Fighter for the Wii, the console is clearly open for all kinds of great games!)

It'll most likely be a real title if it is released this year. (Geometry Wars Galaxies is also going to be a real title.) Original games will be downloadable from the WiiWare section starting next year.CMoon wrote:Lazy of me--is this something for the virtual console or will it be a real title (a critical point I think; If people are putting out things like Takumi Fighter for the Wii, the console is clearly open for all kinds of great games!)

EWWW NONDEFAULT SETTINGS WITH SHITLOADS OF LIVES (and the hoards of nubs that'll use it to get 30k X # of remaining lives bonuses after completing the game)
EWWW MOTION BLUR AND ALL THESE LAME EFFECTS THAT MAKE IT UNPLAYABLE
WTF WHO THE HELL PUTS 15 LEVELS IN A SHMUP
Also I'm gonna lol if they don't credit Kenta Cho.

So the rumors were true after all...surprise, surprise
And the wannabe elitists already know that it's gonna be shit, right shoe-sama?
Unplayable due to motion blur effects? Haha, that's a good one. Reminds me of the kid telling me that Cave shooters are unfair and unplayable due to the amount of bullets...so hardcore.
And what's with the bitching about 15 levels and double play?!
Definitely looking forward to this one...hope they don't dumb down the bullet patterns.
Btw, Psychonauts was ace!

Well it reminds me of the "I like to complain on internet message boards about games that I've never played." screenshot from Super Paper Mario.Necronom wrote:So the rumors were true after all...surprise, surprise![]()

I'm probably gonna get the Geometry Wars for Wii, even though it's 40 bucks, just because they added a ton of extra stuff and I don't want to buy a 360 just yet. I doubt "Blast Works" will get that treatment, plus I already have a system that can play it... 2 player is nice but I need a few more features for a game I can play free. I think that's the main reason anyone's nagging. They're tacking a measly few features, that may or may not turn out to be totally broken, to a FREE game and selling it for probably quite a bit of cash. And it's Majesco. I think we all earn the right to be skeptical here!

I hope they're both grand...I don't have a problem buying shooters on a new console- it makes me happy to hold something like that in my hand (see: raiden 3, gradius 5, 'wartech:senke lol', etc)...just because I miss the good old days where the shit was always on the shelves. I have high hopes for this one turning out great and selling like hotcakes : )

The cloud polygons totally suck and reduce visibility so much woah. I refuse to play this game!burnsro wrote:You've played Blast Works for Wii? What are your impressions of it so far?shoe-sama wrote:lolwatgames that I've never played
And I didn't think it was possible, but with the new levels they jacked up the scoring even more. Man all that pointblank piece attaching action and boss milking was already broken in Tumiki Fighters.

I'm in the same boat. They better make a good reason for me to buy this for Wii when I can play it on my PC for free. For Geometry Wars on Wii they added about 60 levels, different play modes, new enemies and even gradius-option-like things, and online leaderboards. Blast Works better have some major improvements over the PC version.I'm probably gonna get the Geometry Wars for Wii, even though it's 40 bucks, just because they added a ton of extra stuff and I don't want to buy a 360 just yet. Yeah, it´s not like Tumiki Fighters is THAT much of an exotic sounding title. And at least it indicates that is japanese - with all this japanophilia craze that might have raised a lot more heads than just "Blast Works". Blast Works could be anything.JusteZero wrote:I know I'm nitpicking here but.......
Not a fan of the new name, too generic.
Looking back though, one of the most generic sounding names on a truly outstanding game is ALIEN SOLDIER. Imagine walking through a store and seeing a PS2 game with shitty art in the discount bin, and then "Alien Soldier" slapped across it´s cover.
Well, with Tumiki Fighters its at least comforting to know that someone, somewhere actually realized that it´s worth a proper console release.
It´s pretty confusing how shmups are said to be the dying genre and vector-style arena shooters are having such a popularity boost on the other hand. What really matters is that 2D skill-based arcade style gaming seems to have a renaissance.
2 players in Tumiki could be fun, though - stealing each others pieces and such. This would be much more competetive than the usual co-op 2P style in shmups.
THE BULLETS ARE NOW DIAMONDS!

This is going to be out in a couple weeks (yay!)
There are apparently a lot of extras--it might be nice (and isn't out of the question) if they have included ports of other titles by this guy since they are all very high quality.
