Sega Saturn to JAMMA

Post by Sparky »

Hi,

I recently decided to make a connector for my arcade cabinet so that I can connect my Sega Saturn to it. After some trial and error I managed to get a stationary image but it was very bright.

I added some resistors to the lines which managed to reduce the brightness and now I get a clear image on a Super Nintendo that I was testing it with.

The problem now is that I get a rolling image with my Sega Saturn connected.

Anyone have any ideas why this would be happening? I'm connecting both systems with Scart cables I bought from Play-Asia.

Thanks,

David

i can't say i know anything about this directly, but i know that an amp is suggested across the rgb lines since some nanao monitors have trouble syncing to the output of consoles.

if this is true, the snes outputs a pretty solid signal, but the saturn isn't. in the case i've read it was the dreamcast not outputting a strong enough signal for the nanao to sync to.

i'm curious about this as well, since i'd like to jamma-ize my saturn and dreamcast sometime.

I'd like an answer to this too :)

I build my adapter using the info on Mameworld.
I build the circuit to get the composite sync out of the composite video like shown on this page.
I get a rolling picture too. Very much rolling in fact.

If it's just a pot to turn on the monitor, which is it as I have no clue ?
All errors are intentional but mistakes could have been made.

so adjusting the vertical sync on the monitor does not help?

is your monitor composite sync, or does it want separate syncs?
