x-arcade .... any good?
x-arcade .... any good?
Hiya. Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm looking for a top quality arcade stick that I could use with both my pc and ps2 (with a converter if needed and it works). So far I've been eyeing up the sticks at www.x-arcade.com and I just want to know if anyone has any experience with these. Are they worth it or can you recomment something better. I'm also not completely adverse to the idea of building my own from scratch if you think the time invested would give me superior quality to what's on offer to buy.

It's crap.
Buy HRAP2/HRAP3 or make you own custom stick.

Thanks for the reply, that link is very informative. I prefer the loose/responsive feel so I think you're right about going for HRAP. I'll check it out.

Sweet. After reading some reviews and stuff I've gone ahead and ordered a HRAP2. I'm paying through the nose for shipping, especialy since I'm an impatient bugger and so selected the fast shipping option, but hopefully its going to be worth it. Thanks for the advice.

I feel your pain. The shipping and customs charges for my HRAP ended up costing me twice the price of the stick. If it's any consolation, there really isn't a cheap way to import one, as the black monolith's immense heft puts it over the weight restrictions for budget airmail in most countries.Motorherp wrote:Sweet. HORI buttons really so suck?
Yeh its a real pain although you get used to it after a while living in the UK. I tend to import a lot of my things so have just gotten into the habit of factoring in the extra expense and living with it. I'll no doubt be wanting another stick after this for when mates come round, but I think I'll look into building my own. Should be a nice project and saves me the huge import costs too.Daigohji wrote:I feel your pain. The shipping and customs charges for my HRAP ended up costing me twice the price of the stick. Obviously I'm no expert since my stick hasn't even arrived yet, but from what I've read the standard Hori buttons are pretty good. If you want the best though then this is something to consider swapping out.P_HAT wrote:It really necessary mod HRAP2?

Arcade sticks really depend on a personal preference but if you want the "real arcade feel" I recommend making a custom arcade table like I did (and Dave K and some other people have done):

I just bought a cheap wooden shelf at Target, the arcade panel, and the arcade buttons/sticks. The reason why I greatly prefer and recommend this setup is because the abuse it can take- the table will never wobble or move while you jam around the stick in arcade fashion. The smaller arcade pads just don't feel remotely realistic to me as they move all over the place when I'm playing :/
Hori's are also really darn expensive from what I've seen...whereas my table cost the same if not less (It was under $100). Just another thing to keep in mind

I found mine through a seller on Amazon.com. Again though, if you dont live in America then prepare to double the price for shipping and import.

Nope, it has a USB connector making it PS2 incompatible.Pirate1019 wrote:Ok, new question. I only see the Hori Fighting Stick for Playstation3 on Amazon. Can a playstation3 controller/stick be used with a PS2?
If you want a high quality stick I would advise against the fightingstick anyway (version 2 is compatible with the PS2). They're OK if you don't want to spend too much money (the FS2 is available at approx. £15-20 plus postage). But, they are awkward for the precise twitching movements necessary for some shooting games. The HRAP is the way to go IF you can afford it.
A word of warning: There were a few FightingStick3's up for auction on ebay.co.uk under the description 'hori real arcade pro stick 3'. Since the HRAP3's release most fightingstick auctions are now being described correctly, but I'm not sure if there are still any being falsely marketed. Just make sure you've seen a picture of it before bidding.
