Strange problem on Radiant Silvergun

Post by stuminator »

So I'm playing RSG, finish stage 3, at which point I'm asked to pick stage 2 or 4 next. I choose stage 2, so the game now takes me... back to the title screen. :? I thought maybe this was a one-time glitch or something, so I tried playing again and had the exact same thing happen. Anybody know what's going on here? I'm playing Arcade mode on the Saturn system.

Nope, original disc. And I've reached this point at least a dozen times previously and stage 2 started up just fine.

Maybe the disc has a scratch or is dirty? Or did you leave it in the sun? Or maybe your Saturn's laser-lens needs cleaning?

I shut the power off and restarted it and it appears to be working fine now. The disc itself is in perfect shape, and I'm not sure if it was the Saturn either as it's never done anything like this with another game.

Maybe you were on "stage select mode" and didn't know it? Once you unlock that option, if you select a certain stage it'll just play that and then send you back to the beginning.

I assume stage select is in the options+ menu then if it's an unlockable? I just checked and haven't unlocked it yet. Maybe it somehow activated anyway.

For stuminator,

The RSG problem that you describe doesn't happen with the Sega Titan ST-V version of RSG -- it's pure 100% blazing fast uploaded Rom code coming from a cartridge..... ^_~

A JPN country version ST-V mobo is the recommended one to get in order to play the "3-button" scheme of RSG, otherwise a USA country version ST-V mobo will net one the "2-button" scheme setup with a RSG cart instead. Of course, with an ST-V multi BIOS mod chip, then one could select the JPN country version mode and gain access to the much desired "3-button" mode of RSG. Can't say that same ST-V multi BIOS chip setup will work for such an original JPN version ST-V mobo though..... ^_~

For Bloodflowers,

Any such luck on finding such an ST-V RSG cart by chance?

OK, it's been a while, but I can confirm that you can still activate the stage select even if it hasn't been unlocked. When entering the options+ screen, it will default to the top one (stage select) and you can still press left and right to select a stage, though there won't be any proof on the screen that anything has changed.

Very interesting development regarding "hidden stage select mode" for the SS ver. of RSG, stuminator... ^_~

Makes me wonder if this is a bug that the beta-testers missed before the final version of SS ver. RSG being sent as a "gold" master copy CD-Rom to be duplicated?

Or could it be you SS console itself that needs some tender cleaning to bring it back up to spec? A can of compressed air and fine camera lense duster work very well for CD-Rom based gaming consoles... ^_~
