PVM-2530

To those who've owned one of these beasts - worth $75 locally? Would be using for sat / ps2 / pcb if i ever buy any.

Any regrets / things to watch out for?

I've seen TWE's permatate thread, so that's sorted.

I like them. It's my main TV in the living room. Back in my not so bright modding days, I think I toasted the RGB port on the back, so I can't speak for the RGB side of things, but as far as S-Video / Composite video, it works like a charm. If you're lucky you can land a remote off of ebay. I actually landed a new one off there for like $10 + ship. Can't beat the body style, so for $75 as long as it's solid and nothing major wrong w/ it, I say go for it

I love the PVM-2530. RGB has always worked fine for me. A note about the Permatate thing though, it worked for a few months, then I got some discoloration again for a couple months. I recently moved to a new apartment, put up my monitor in Tate, and it was perfect again. It's been perfect for over a month now. So I don't know really. I've heard if you get discoloration somewhere you should try and move the monitor somewhere else in the room or the house. Get it away from various sources of magnetism.

Anyway, even with the slight discoloration, it's still better than playing on a regular TV without RGB. And for $75 you can't go wrong really.

Very solid monitor that I owned for a long time. I paid $110 for mine and thought that was a steal (which it pretty much is). So $75 is a...super steal? Definitely go for it. The analog RGB will blow anything and everything out of the water. The only reason I don't still have mine is because I upgraded to arcade RGB monitors which are only slightly better and don't have the casing and features of the PVMs.

You can get the remote cheap on Ebay too

Ended up picking up a pvm-2030 for $50 instead . . . cause I can actually pick it up

No hernia surgeries necessary to tate it, higher WAF also. There's another guy locally selling a 29" pvm for $40

but I couldn't justify trying to haul something that big up the stairs.

Now all i need to do is wire up a converter for the 25 pin connector . . .

FYI, the 29" one is far superior to the PVM 2530 if it's a PVM-2950Q. I owned that one too and it is a phenomenal monitor.

Yeah, its a 2950Q . . . why do you say it's far superior?
Is it really only 114lbs? That's less than the 25" . . . hrrm . . .
