They still don't understand that Nintendo is trying to make available as many "hit & run" games as they can. RPGs are too long and they grab too much attention from players, expecially if they're very well done. If players play too much with a game, they will lose interest in other games - - - whereas shooters are good for a laugh or two, and then the average user will try and buy something else.
This is good for us, of course
Anyway, I would love a couple of standard RPGs there. Even average ones like Lufia, or strategic a-la Feda.

Reason why there are not as many RPG's is because Nintendo are aiming the Wii at the non-gamer market. Non gamers are going to find playing most SHMUPs easier to play then most RPG's. Also in some countrys like Europe translating the games in to the many differnt languages might be a problem while it's not a problem for a platformer or a SHMUP.

Frankly....theres not enough, yet. Many of the "younger skateboarder generation" haven't really been exposed to shmups. They need to know how fun they are, possibly re-awakening the genre if we're lucky.
Most important...most new console releases (from Nintendo and Sony) start out as japanese machines/software which is later ported to the U.S. and other places. The shmup genre still lives and breathes in Japan....so it really makes sense that VC would feature lots of shmups.

How can you have too many? Don't like them? Then don't buy them.
Same can be said for the popular-modern-game-that-shmups.com-members-hate-clones that everyone loves to blame for putting shooting games on life support.
That being said, VC needs Wild Guns. Even though I have a cart running on my SNES right this very moment.

I would like to see some Square and Enix RPG's start showing up. But too many shmups on the VC?? Quite the opposite, IMO. They need to release more from all the consoles that the VC covers.Fenrir wrote:They still don't understand that Nintendo is trying to make available as many "hit & run" games as they can. Perhaps Nintendo should take a different approach to the VC; like one week you get shmups, another week you get a different genre, or do the same thing with the consoles.

haha..this post seemed like a troll attempt to me : P While I own a wii and a very small handful of d/led titles (the obligatory bomberman : P) I still appreciate what is there- I would love to hear some kid in Wal-Mart talking about this cool "R-Type" game he played...
Lol..or a streets of rage 4 : ) (off topic)
But yeah, hopefully this wii thing will make some of the old series get some new life to them

It would help if Nintendo would stop being so cheap-arse about the VC, and quit releasing crap like old NES sports games and the like that aren't worth five cents, let alone five bucks. There some great games available on the VC, but there's a disproportionate amount of crap, IMO. There were plenty of great NES shumps, where are those, Nintendo?

If Mario 1 is still the #1 seller, we be in trouble...
