The Aleste series: I don't get it

Post by TKGB_Mental_Gear »

In one adventure your enbarking to stop a giant computer and in the next your riding a mecha in feudal japan. WTF? I don't get it. I don't understand this game series. I'll say this: It plays great but I'm a gamer who likes his story in a game. These games have great stories on their own but slap a title and, to the extent of Aleste, the same protagonist in almost every game and it becomes a weird little series.

Am I playing an anthology or what?

Yeah, Compile should have called the ones where you control a robot "Spriggan", that would have made more sense.

In Aleste, Dia 51 is a huge computer who develops AI and attack humans.

In Aleste 2, Dia 51 gets back to life, destroys a huge part of humanity, so we have to attack it again

in Aleste Gaiden Dia 51 actually destroyed everything (we failed at Aleste 2), and a lone soldier goes against it.

In MUSHA Dia 51 made a huge mess with time and brought past and future all to the same time.

way to go shatterhand.

i also think its funny when people use story against shooters. i've showed some of my shooters to friends, and they've been like, "yeah, that looks sorta cool... but what's it about? i can't play a game without a story."

...and i love musha aleste.
I have no sig whatsoever.

Well I myself can play a game without a story but I prefer games with a story to make it like an adventure. Though there are some games that I do play that have no story like "Smash Bros. Melee", which I find spectacular, and games I wish didn't have a story like "F-Zero GX", which I find the story really dumb.

Looks like Shatterhand pretty much answered my questioned. Now I asked "what was Compile smoking when they thought of that?"

I never played Robo Aleste... :)

The pilot in Aleste 2 is daughter of the pilot from Aleste 1. The guy wearing the robot suit in Aleste Gaiden is somehow related to the pilot from Aleste 1.

In the ending of Aleste Gaiden *SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER*

Dia 51 is defeated in the ground, and he says something like "Oh, I don't believe a human defeated me. Whats your name?"

* hero says his name, can't remember now *

" Oh, I think we've met before in another age as rivals too." "It doesn't matter, I'm dying, and I'll go to another dimension. This world sucked anyway."

* SPOILER ENDS*

In the beggining of Aleste 2 something REALLY bad happens. Dia 51 fucks up earth badly.. can't remember exactly what happened, but it made a lot of people pissed :)

Leandro, Dia51 is the villain ever.

Good to see somebody else from Brazil :) Are you going to compete in the STGT ? I've tried to make a Brazilian team last year but failed....

Isn't a woman the main character in all of the games or just MUSHA Aleste?

Naw, don't answer that. It's just going to confuse me and give me a headache. :?

No

The hero of Aleste 1 is called Ray Wizn , it's the same name of the hero in Aleste Gaiden, though they obviously aren't the same person.

The pilot in Aleste 2 is Ellinor Wizn, his daughter.

Ellinor mother's is the girl that nearly dies withing the attack of Dia 51 in the intro of Aleste (Which, AFAIK, is not present in the SMS version).

Don't know about MUSHA though. I'm more of an MSX guy than an Mega-Drive guy :)

And don't even try to ask me what the heck happens with SMS Power Strike 2. That thing doesn't make any sense plotwise.

Edit: After some research, I just found out that the person flying the MUSHA is Ellinor Wizn again ...

And the plot of Robo Aleste makes as much sense as SMS Power Strike 2

Well, the only thing I can tell you about the GG games is that in GG Aleste 1 Ellinor is the pilot .. again. Don't know if Dia51 is still causing trouble.

And in GG Aleste 2 it surely isn't her anymore....

Oh.. if anyone cares...

Dia51 was built to take care of ambiental stuff. If my memory serves me right, the idea was that Dia51 should take care of Earth ambient, but its AI finds out that Humanity is the biggest danger to Earth, so it decides to destroy all human beings.

Now, anyone knows the plot of Zanac? :)

In short: Man finds Artifact. Man examines Artifact, and accidentally triggers The Apocalypse. Man sends Lone Pilot to Stop Artifact and Save Humanity.

Or something to that effect. Man is always the biggest problem in these kind of games.

This game makes alot more sense now that you explained it Shatterhand, by that I mean that it's understandable but there are still gaps that leave me confused. Maybe if you drew a tree diagram of sorts... :?

I think you are caring about the plot more than Compile did :)

Sounds a bit like RayForce. ConHuman = Dia51 2.0?

Actually, I was thinking about The Guardian too. But she's so damn hard to understand with her rambling about Cyborg Flowers, I never really knew if she wasn't just being a bitch. >_>

whats the connection between Spriggan and Spriggan Mk 2?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
