Besides Ketsui PCB, what other Cave shmup PCBs worth $$$?

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

Besides a "barebones" Ketsui PCB fetching $750.00+ USD, what other Cave produced arcade shmup PCBs are more likely and/or have the potential to go up in value in the nearby future?

Of course, the DDP-Special Campaign Version PCB is off-limits to the casual arcade shmupper...will Cave be a good sport and release it to all DDP PCB owners in the nearby future?

At best, it's every shmupper's "wet dream" to own such a Cave PCB as that particular one -- at least the Cave employees have the opportunity to play with it at their leisure..... ^_~

Pretty much any new Cave game from Espgaluda II & Pink Sweets onward, since none are getting ports.

That's sad news to hear that Cave doesn't want to port their arcade shmup titles through 3rd-party Japanese console video game developers like Arika & Taito anymore...oh well.

More power to Cave for releasing their shmup titles as arcade PCB exclusives then -- plus, there's no stopping anyone from going the full-sized Japanese arcade cabinet or portable Supergun route to enjoy them in their native medium as they are... ^_~

For those of us with so-called "disposable income", that's $$$ to burn by buying the newest & latest Cave arcade PCBs -- so be it... ^_~

Let's face it, for the hard-core arcade PCB hobbyist, it ain't a cheap hobby to begin with -- different strokes for different folks..... ^_~

I think it's more a case of them not selling well. I'm sure Cave would like the extra money if they did sell well 8)

DDP Campaign version is probably worth the most. The three custom mushihime futari boards that were given out at the Cave Festival would also cost a ton of money.

As far as pcbs that were commercially sold, ketsui and ddp doj black label have the most potential to go up in my opinion.

How very true these days of Cave produced arcade PCBs (even the odd-ball arcade PCB puzzler of "Uo Poko" fetches some $$$, right?)... ^_~

Longevity wise, i think Progear and Guwange displays the longest replay value and you will get the most out of your money. Progear is a Cps2 board. So the only other cave pcb i can think of that will be worth the loot is..Mushi futari and we all know mushi 1 is fetching above the 500 mark. I could never understand why that pcb is still enpensive.
The cave whore count in this thread is unbelievable!!!

I've decided to take the plunge and have a supergun on the way.

How much do these run?

Mushi
Ibara
Guwange
Progear
EspRade

I'm open to suggestions also.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Bare PCB (maybe some art)

Mushi - 50,000 yen
Ibara - < 30,000 yen
Guwange 35,000 - 40,000 yen
Progear ~30,000 yen (w/ AB board)
EspRade 25,000 yen

Those are rough YJ prices.

@Strider77: Pretty much what GJP said. Though Mushi is usually around 60,000 on YJ from what I've seen. Expect to pay a bit over $500 from most of the reliable PCB shops. A bare Ibara board is pretty cheap, about $180 or so now.

yeah bare PCBs is all I'm worried about really.....
Boogie Wings (Great Ragtime Show)
that I might be intersted in but darius 2 I have on saturn and i'm ok with that port.

I'm interested in anything that is really good and that has never gotten, or got a very poor home port.

I confess Mushi was the breaking point for the move into PCB collecting. I really like that game quite a bit.

One just sold for a BIN of 35,000yen on YJ:

That's the cheapest I've ever seen it.

Damn, I wish I had seen that. I'm still waiting for Mushi to hit $400 for a bare board. I could be waiting a while :(

Sorry, it's true. This has been discussed ad nauseum here. If the port were good the PCB would not be commanding the prices it has. There are loads of Mushi PCBs out there, there were two prints of the game.

I've not played the Mushi port, but I do think in light of this thread, PCB value is not necessarily related to the quality of the home port. Espgaluda I PCB is on the rise, last I checked, and it has a wonderful port.

Really? Where? You can still get a Galuda PCB + full original art set for around $280USD pretty easily these days. DDPDOJ's value is steady (and comparatively low) as well, even though it also has a stellar port.

Then again there's Ibara, with the worst port of the bunch, but also the cheapest PCB right now (~$180). That game is just not as popular as the others though.

Err? It's been dropping (slowly, but dropping) ever since galuda 2 started getting affordable. I've seen bare galuda boards (with copied art, but that hardly counts) at around $200. I saw one below $200 a few times too.

It used to be holding steady around $300-$350

I got my Espgaluda with copied artwork for £112 ($220ish) including all fees and shipping to me using Yahoo recently. Starpine usually lists them at 20K and they mostly end without bids, so I assumed 20K was slightly high for within Japan :?

True. It doesn't have that much of an impact.

Most of the market could care less if there is a home port or not, let alone if it's an exact one.
For the Cave whores, see Dodonpachi vs Esprade as one example.

Is the price of ESP RaDe increasing? Last I checked, which is probably 1.5 years ago, it was around $150.
