I would like to see people try to classify this one. It's a borderline game in so many ways. :P

Platformer. It's just Son-Son with bigger sprites and some crazy powerups like transforming into a Phoenix (yes, really).

Oh, platformer diffinitely. The scrolling keeps the pace up, but it's still all about jumping
