I-type (flash version of R-Type).....website?

Post by postman »

I found something I downloaded a while ago, and can't find the website I got it from......

It's called I-Type, and it's a clone of R-type done in flash. It's far from being complete, but aside from the piecemeal game, it's got KILLER menus, which show an R-9 being assembled and disassembled as you move from menu to menu..........

I was wondering if the team finished the project by now, but can't find anything about it on the web. Anyone hear of this before?

I don't know if this is the same thing, but here is a version of R-Type in Flash

several links to the same game

http://www.games.de/flash_games/games/rtype.htm
http://www.games.de/spiele/sybex/RType/frameset.htm

backgrounds from R-Type, your R-9 ship from R-Type III, and some sprites from R-Type I and II.

and here you can play Master System R-Type in Java

x_x don't even bother playing that "demo" of R-Type.... it's horrid. After you beat the first boss (in an easy manner NOTHING like the original Doppelganger, i remind you) the game just ceases to continue forward. and the auto-respawn sucks the cock. wtf do they think this is? something other than R-type? :?

Two pieces of wisdom for you:

1. You get what you pay for.

2. Software that is released before completion generally isn't "good". I doubt the programmer released it to please gamers, but rather, to show his peers what he could do, and to show everyone what he had so far. The fact is, it's very hard work to create any type of game from scratch. It's an ardorous process of programming, debugging, applying fixes, and praying your fixes actually fix the problem (and don't break anything else in the process).

That small piece of software probably took several months to create, especially since the person is using Flash, and not a tool like Game Maker.

The auto-respawn may be artistic licence, but it's possible that the person hasn't worked out how to get checkpoints working. It's a lot harder than you'd think.

My point is this: it isn't fair to make derogatory comments over this game, because it's not intended to please you, and because it's a lot more work than you're giving it credit for.

Just stating the facts, no more, no less.

I was more impressed with the menus than the actual game itself (which is pretty lacking). As stated before, this project is very far from being finished, and as far as I know isn't being continued.

Zweihander, do you remember where you got this from?

Thanks for the link, but that's not the one..........I-Type has really cool animated menus that have the R-9 breaking apart into pieces....

Wish I could track down the dev team again.......
