I've been meaning to say; This all looks great to me! Thanks llabnip and Kiken for your thorough descriptions of your impressions of the game. I also have to agree with SheSaidDutch in that it is quite refreshing to see a warm response to the game, in contrast to the... lukewarm (if not cold) anticipation of the general community.

Not that anything's changed, though, since there are nontheless still four kinds: (1) Those whom would get it no matter what, (2) those whom are realizing that they'd like to get it, (3) those whom are glad that they didn't get it, and (4) those whom wouldn't ever get it. No problem with any of these.

I suppose that the next wave of orders will be arriving at peoples' doorsteps, this week. It will be interesting to see further reactions, perhaps from those whom weren't/still aren't so sure about it. Plus, it'd be weird if I got it, and for some reason didn't like it... Nope, I'm biased, it'd never happen that way.

You might need to actually play the game, to know for sure. It's up to you, as to whether or not you'd like to take the chance. :|

Figured I'd post this too, just to show where this game starts to head bullet-wise...

Right after the descent past the bridges, you get to these slowly spinning cannons, which are a total PITA. I managed to get through once without bombing or dieing, so I'm now using this to study the patterns.

I thought some of the rest of you might find this interesting. Once again, this demonstrates why I prefer laser to the other weapons (it penetrates everything):

spent all morning with this and is really is very enjoyable. I'm only playing it using one credit at the moment and am finding it quite tough (not cleared the second stage yet).

It's really old school (especially in terms of style) yet I have no problems at all with it. Definately enjjoying it more than Chaos Field at the moment.

I will get it this summer once I have a job.

I'd really like to read a Randorama-esque review of it though. Preferably by the man himself.

edit: blah, that stage 5 cannons video changed my mind back.

Just received it in the mail today, finally found my CD-X so I could play it on my euro console and first impressions is that I like it. The music is nice, the scoring is nice and I want to play it again :D

Now if only I can determine what I am supposed to do with the guy flinging stones at me. The instructions say I'm supposed to bounce them ?

The little mecha guy in Stage 2 flings this red orb at you. And you can "lift" it by letting it bounce on your ship. I was only able to bounce it twice... =/ Too much stuff was coming at me so I lost it. But it did unlock "Lifting" stage in Score Attack.

Dunno if Triangle Service's site still has the LIFTING game available for download, but it's good practice somewhat. Basically you play hackeysack with that red metal thing, it's trajectory is determined by where it bounces on your ship. The goal mainly is just to keep it in the air as long as possible, which sounds really pointless unless you're the type that plays for score, and those 10,000+ point awards per successful bounce start adding up. The only thing is that in the main game, you'd have to do that while fighting the boss, which sounds hard enough as it is. x_x

On a somewhat related note, the Windows version of LIFTING is also a great way to practice some score leeching when going up against those two cannons right before you start bouncing the orb.

I was making a lot of mistakes last night, so I decided "screw it", I'm going to credit feed to the end. It took me 7 credits but I got through to the credits (thus unlocking Score Attack Stage 6 as well as Score Attack Omake Stage).

With the Stage 6 Score Attack open, I went in to practice the 2 final bosses (that annoying pink mech of death and the core unit). The pink mech isn't too difficult if you stay calm and remember the bullet patterns. The core unit is another story... it reminds me of the final boss from Ketsui. You have the core in the upper part of the screen which is proctected by 8 shield units which spin counterclockwise. Four of the shield are strictly defense and just need to be whittled down... the other four are cannons that fire in-to-out/out-to-in bullet archs. Now keep in mind that this is all spinning. After about 1 minute of fighting the core, 8 outer shield units appear which spin clockwise. They start close to the core, so you can hide behind them, but they quickly move outward to the lower edge of the screen, forcing you between them and the core. Now, all of these outer shield units are also firing shots... toward the core. So once they move out and you have to move in, you have to dodge both the outer and inner core shields, which are both spinning in opposite directions.

That's the easy part.

After destroying the 8 main core shields you then have to destroy 3 pieces of the core which all fire radial, spinning and sunburst bullet formations... while spinning themselves, and you still have to contend with the 8 outer core shields if you haven't been able to kill them yet.

This is where I'm running into a wall at the moment (well, this final form of the last boss as well as the Stage 5 boss... still giving me grief).

At the moment, I figure that if I can credit the game, I should come out with about 3.5 million, which isn't bad. I still need to work on scoring techniques though.

This game is one seriously deceiving bad ass mofo! :)

Upon first playing I thought: "Wow this this is VERY easy, at this rate I'll 1 cc the game in a week or so..."!
Since that moment I've had to seriously rethink that first thought...
Performing better does indeed make the game incrementally harder with new bits/enemies which can be extremely though.

The stage 1 dragons/snakes are kicking my ass making me lose at least 1 life everytime so far I´ve played against them.

First few minutes after first starting it up I was having thoughts of the game being a let down...
But been playing since last night and I can safely say this game does NOT dissappoint after getting into it a bit deeper. Boss fight music kicks ass and the graphics-style (color use etc.) grows on you as does the weapon system...

Now if only I can get a decenbt enough score to post on the internet ranking.....:?

Going to be playing this for first time tonight, is there any good gameplay info (in English) anywhere on the web ?, translated some Japanese info (mainly from here: http://www.hcn.zaq.ne.jp/rydeen/trizeal/index.html ).

Is there a minimum score needed to get a code to enter onto the rankings pages ? (or you just embaressed being bottom ?)

Thanks.

Minimum requirement for score entry on the rankingspage is that you come out on top of the predefined highscore list. This will give you a password in the ranking section.

And Yes I am too embaressed to be at the bottom of the list
Not too far of second from last place though :P.

Played for 3 hours solid last night and really impressed, very easy to pick up and play but will take an age to master and get a decent high score, anyone worked out the points sytems for "chaining" the items dropped by killed enemies ?
Entered scores on the ranking site so anyone else doesn't have to be last :p

PS on the entry screen, the fields are for code, name used on high score chart (in game), your email address, any "comments" then tick the bottom box, click the button and your entered :)

my copy came in the mail today, and after a few quick plays, i'm surprised by how good it is. very solid old-school blaster in the toaplan/raiden vein, but relatively uptempo, and with a quick ship and small hitbox. it's quite easy through the first three stages, and then ramps up at that asteroid field in stage 4...i quickly lost three ships there. :/ i didn't think it'd be able to pull me away from the amazing dragon blaze at all, but i really dig it, and i'm definitely going to give it some time.

I gave Trizeal a good couple hours tonight and found it quite tough compared to Giga Wing/Dragon Blaze at first with its faster bullets. After a bit I did manage to 1-credit to stage 4. The slowdown isn't too aggravating- and in fact it can save you at moments, in a way it's like going into Matrix bullet time.

On the mothership I'll use the wide shot against the turrets. The BGM during this stage is a bit in the style of Border Down- the whole soundtrack is great stuff.

If you drop a medal, you cannot really do the Raizing trick (grabbing a high value medal ASAP to preserve a chain).

I simply don't get the lukewarm reception that Trizeal had received in Japanese arcades. The game is quite underrated, and I'm glad to have picked it up.

It's one of the lowest poly count Naomi games I've seen and has a ton of slowdown, easy to see. Still I find it enjoyable, I played Chaos Field about two hours before sitting it down til a month later, been playing Trizeal constantly. *-neo

Wow, impressive. It seems like everyone likes Trizeal. I suppose if you went to the trouble of buying it, it was probably a game you'd like. But still. After all the shit we heard from Japan, I'd figure the fans would be a small minority.

Greets. First post on the forums here, and I must say that this is a great site. It seems no one appreciates a good shooter today. (or the Dreamcast for that matter...) Guy at GameStop literally laughed when I asked if they still had DC games. "Haha, that system's old, and dead." Typical ignorant dipshit he was. Everyone's into this Ghost Recon crap that they bang out every month or so. Most of these new games seem more like movies to me. No challenge at all. I used to follow games somewhat close, but now they all just seem to blend in. Guess people would rather "tap X to aim, fire, and kill" rather than have their asses handed to them repeatedly by a good shooter. Ah well. Anyway, I did have a point here. :) I've been waiting for Trizeal for a while now. I meant to pre-order it, but haven't set aside the cash for it yet. Hopefully I'll order this soon, and people won't warez the game. I think Triangle Services really needs the sales.

Reminds me of what someone said to me once in a game shop, when I picked up my modded saturn.
He was like "I wouldn't bother with that, It's big like the Xbox, but it's even worse than the Dreamcast."

Yeah right, if only he knew.
