That's not the most important aspect of this post. This is:

http://www.e-xtreme.co.jp/masaya/

While it was nice to get enhanced ports of Assault Suits Valken and Langrisser III and a new Choaniki game on PS2, maybe this company will do a better job working the NCS catalog than X-Nauts did, no matter their target platform.

Personally, I'd like to see new Langrisser, Shubibinman and Valken/Leynos games (not enhanced ports...and in their proper genre). I already have six Choaniki games, so I'm pretty tapped out in the "oiled muscle man" subcategory of shmups. Still, if any future game is a shmup....

For anyone not overly familar with the series, and despite what EGM has said over and over (obviously after not playing any of the games), there are no "naked men" and "humping" in these games. No comment on the penis missiles in Choaniki: Kyuukyoku Muteki Ginga Saikyou Otoko. But will people look at you strange if you play the games (minus the first on PCE, which is just an odd game) in a public setting...yes, definitely. Will your wife or girlfriend wonder a tad about your sexuality...hey, that depends on you.

On a side note, Ai Choaniki for PCE (a 1995 release) has one of the best soundtracks of any PCE CD game (actually, any system IMO). You just have to get past the blatant homoerotic packaging...including a 69 in the game manual.

YES!!! new Cho Aniki weirdness....... I'm in, as long as it's not more cell phone garbage.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

These games are so over the top it´s hard (no pun intended ;)) not to have fun with them.

Reminds me of the fact that I still need to get the PS2 CA...

painful doesn't describe the debauchery that port was. ruining the control scheme and removing the opening entirely, not to mention ruined graphics.

Nippon Computer Systems still exists, but Masaiya does not. They were dissolved after the Wonder Swan version of Chou Aniki IIRC, and moved to X-Nauts.

OK I don't get the whole idea.

NCS and Masaiya are two different companies?

Then why any NCS game on the MD has the Masaiya logo on it?

Every NCS game, no matter the system, has the Masaya (correct spelling) logo on it...same company. Masaya was the games division of NCS, much like NEC Avenue (and, later, NEC Interchannel) was the games division of NEC. As far as Assault Suits Valken goes, I own the SNES version as well...but I have no problems with the PS2 rev. To each his or her own, I guess. I've been bashed in the past for liking games like Adventure of Little Ralph and Gunners Heaven (both PS1), so maybe the gloss of 2D clouds my vision at times. :D

Masaya (correct spelling) logo on
I should've went by the katakana and called it Mesaiya. That must be the worst logo in history. I've heard it called Misaya, Misaiya, Masaya, Masiya, and Masaiya based on the logo, and it's hard to say any of them are incorrect.

I don't know, but I could find out if you want to. I'm in contact with the people who owns the rights for all of Masaya's game music.
