Until just very recently, there was no way to use your PS2 game controllers (including PSX & PS2 arcade stick-based controllers) on the new-fangled PS3 console. The solution, enter Pelican's "PS2 to PS3 Adapter" - Controller Dongle...it comprises of a standard PS2 controller port that terminates into a USB port (for use with USB controller port #1 on the PS3 itself).
It's about damn time...as to why SCEI didn't release an official PS2 to PS3 controller adapter device is beyond me (although they did release an official PS2 to PS3 "Memory Card Adapter" device to transfer PS2 game saves onto the PS3's HDD).
I went down to my local Gamestop store yesterday, 5/30/2007 (Wed.), and lo behold, they had a single Pelican "PS2 to PS3 controller adapter" dongle for sale at a mere $14.99 USD. Bought it in a jiffy. ^_~
I just need to test it out with all my various PS2 speciality controllers to see what works and what doesn't work (compatibility-wise) with the PS3 console. (Hmmm, I wonder if the Namco produced NegCon & JogCon controllers works with Ridge Racer V on the PS3 console setup? It should be interesting to see if it does. Ditto about not be able to use them with Ridge Racer 7 though...) ^_~
The wait is finally over, one can finally use his or her own PS2 controllers on the PS3 console at last..... ^_~
I wonder if it's possible to use this particular Pelican "PS2 to PS3 controller adapter" on a WinXP OS endowed PC tower setup?

Cool that there's no lag whatsoever with this Pelican PS3 controller adapter -- worth the asking $14.99 USD price IMO..... ^_~

Any psx>usb adapter mainly.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:For Damocles,Damocles wrote:It's surprising it took Pelican this long to release an adaptor. We found out HRAPs work just fine through a generic adaptor six months ago.
And what "generic adaptor" would that be?

That adapter would be perfect for those people wanting to shred on Guitar Hero 2, to finally be able to do so.

I did try out a 2nd generation Radio Shack "PSX to PC USB" adapter on my PS3 and it did not register at all...Squirrel wrote:Any psx>usb adapter mainly.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:For Damocles,Damocles wrote:It's surprising it took Pelican this long to release an adaptor. For PS3:

Anyway, there's a thread somewhere on this forum that goes through what has and what hasn't been tested on the PS3. From memory, the guitar and dance pads work as well.
