Taito 3-screen cabs, locations

Post by zinger »

I was hoping to finally get to play Taito's old 3-screen games soon, since I'm going to Tokyo for a month (from next thursday). What arcades still have them, preferably in Tokyo?

*Ninja Warriors
*Darius
*Darius II (2 screen version)
*Rastan Saga III (Warrior Blade)

none in akihabara, the only one there that might get one is the arcade in super potato, but i doubt they can get such a cab up to the 7th (?) floor..

Thanks a lot!

sven666; damn, I didn't expect them to be very rare at all actually. Kind of makes sense though, considering size and popularity.

The triple screen (and dual screen) Taito cabs are now extremely rare. Someone on this board was selling a Ninja Warriors in the US a little while ago, I think. I've always wanted to find a Warrior Blade - it seems impossible.

I found the first Darius today at Try Amusement Tower. One of the screens had a yellowish tone to it, other than that it was in good condition. To find it, locate Taito Amusement S@y at the main street in Akihabara (huge Taito neon logo), walk around to the back of the building and keep walking up that street, shouldn't be hard to find.

Are there even any detailed pics of the Taito multiscreens on the net? The only pics I ever found before are the small ones on the arcade flyers.

WOW. The jumbo 3-screen Darius cabinet there is one incredible custom job. While most certainly not cheap, this one would be worth the 200 Yen (or more, perhaps 300?) per play. If I had the room for such a rig, I'd get one.

Now that they've done After Burner Climax, Sega needs to get out a Galaxy Force III and make another cabinet like the GF one. I've never gotten to try the GF DX cabinet (and most likely missed out big time).
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I have a Sagaia (Darius 2) twin screen machine. It is the very same machine that is shown on KLOV. There must be others in the UK but I have yet to find one. I have fond memories of playing Darius at Blackpool Pleasure Beach but the machine is long gone.

Sighting of Darius 3-screen at Beach Boardwalk in 1990's...

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

I remember back in the early 1990's at the Santa Cruz's Beach Boardwalk (based in California, of course), inside the main arcade, there was an original Taito Darius arcade cabinet (the one with three RGB monitors setup) -- very cool arcade shmup for it's time..... ^_~

I'm not sure if the Beach Boardwalk has any arcade shmups today...can anyone vouch and say if there are any?

Back in about '92 or so, I lived in Groton, CT (ugh!) for a brief period. The major employment in that area was a large submarine base that's there. There was a crappy bowling alley I used to go to on the naval base and they actualy had a dedicated Ninja Warrior cab. Only one I ever saw. They also had a Ninja Gaiden cab as well.

This thread just brought those memories back...

As for that 50x3, that is quite insane. I'd imagine it'd have to be hard to play a shooter that large with any efficiency. Not that I wouldn't want to give it a go.

Nice to know it's still in good hands ;) I miss that and the Ninja Warriors the most. NW is still in the collection of the buyer too - last I checked. I'm selling one of my cars, maybe I can get it back off him sometime.

G-Darius V.2
The game features bosses patterned after marine critters, a terrific stereo soundtrack, and three monitors aligned left-to-right. Can I speak for everyone when I say WTF? did they get this right? I can't imagine.
So since this hardware is based upon playstation is the playstation port arcade perfect? http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id ... =3309#3309

Then that must be the holly grail. That 3 screen cab in my avatar, but with G-Darius V.2.
And you have that pcb?
Holly sweet mother of jezus.
Any details? screenshots? How would it be connected? Is it a pcb with three monitor connectors?
