i am looking for DC-shmups that i can play together with a friend in co-op
the information on review- or seller-sites don't help me very much cause everybody seems to ignore this option and just puts in the number of players at will (so it seems to me) in their description...
so - these are the games in question:
Border Down
Chaos Field
Karous
Last Hope
Psyvariar 2
Radilgy
Trigger Heart Exelica
which of these games for Dreamcast has (or hasn't) definitely a 2-player-mode?
YOu might wanna invest in Amarda for the DC if multiplayer is your thing. Not technicly a traditional shmup but the game plays a lot like Sinistar crossed with an RPG, oh and did I forget to mention that it's also four player!

thank you for this advice - but after reading some reviews of Armada i guess we stick to the traditionals (too much strategy/thinking in a shmup just seems to be too much for my small brain)
i just recently "untated" my monitor and this gives us the opportunity to try out the likes of GigaWing I/II and MarsMatrix (we might even give Viewpoint a shoot) together - this should keep us busy for some time

Why are those the games in question? Gigawing 2 has 4 player mode!!! W00t!!!!

let me answer with a quote from D on his homepage:
D wrote:Vertical shooters on arcade or home system games that use horizontal monitors don't work for me. Even games like Giga Wing 2 (arcade/Dreamcast) play and look odd to me: [...] imagine how the game would have turned out if it where released to play on a vertical monitor.
It would have other enemy movements/patterns. The enemies could have different shapes like longer sprites instead of overall round dimensions. The weapons would be less spread and moving forward/backward for dodging bullets would have resulted in a game that would have a richer and more action packed experience.
also the included 4P-mode is no criterion for me:
i don't have 3 friends that are so much into shooters that it would make any sence to play as a foursome (i am actually happy to have at least 1 who enjoys them like i do - everyone else is playing OPF, WOW or whatever these games are called...)
all the games in question are just for "warming up" anyway: the next big thing for us is to finally 1cc Trizeal together
and judging from past sessions this will not be an easy task - at least for us (being quite mediocre shmupers)

Trizeal has that moment where it suddenly becomes REALLY hard. I used to long for a 1cc myself, but then I got to the level with all the spinning turrets and realized that wasn't particularly likely for me.

i was just surfing the Border Down homepage and stumbled across this little screen there:
i don't understand japanese at all but this gives me the impression, that there actually is a 2P-mode in Border Down - so could anyone pls be so kind as to translate this little box for me?
