Online-enabled console shmups?

Post by durias »

Do you know of any console shmups that utilize its platform's online feature to allow two-player mode with a friend that's in a different location?

Senko No Ronde on the XBOX360 is the only one I'm aware of.

The only thing to be aware of is that it's not a SHMUP in the truest sense of the word.

I believe that Twinkle Star Sprites: La Petite Princess is online enable.

EDIT:
Oh almost forget Aegis Wing on the XBLA.

@ jpolz and Sonic R:

Thanks for the input!

@ All y'all:

Isn't it surprising that there aren't more shmups that are online-enabled? I can imagine playting two-player Gradius V with a buddy across the country. Or maybe even playing againts 'em--seeing his/her score and level on the screen. Or having a tournament where four, eight, sixteen, THIRTY-TWO, SIXTY-FOUR people enter to play head-to-head with the winner advancing to the next round. One could gain rank based on points or levels or even 1ccs that help 'em match players up against other players that they don't know. Oh, and we' have to have a communicator...

What say you?

My guess is that it's a really, really bad genre to get lagged in.
