I'd rather play Blazing Lazers on the real deal, meaing on a PC Engine/TG-16 setup rather than on the Wii...of course, there are those out there who don't have such access to said hardware will have to be content with d/l of BL on their Wii... ^_~
A good solid Japanese PC Engine joystick with variable auto-fire when playing a serious session of Gunhed/Blazing Lazers on the ol' PCE/TG-16 works wonders, y'know? ^_~
Sure, for the hard-core Gamecube owner/player, would be to use a Hori produced "Fighting Stick Gamecube" setup on the Wii for some of that authentic arcade joystick action when playing shmup titles on it.....

Do you have something against Nintendo consoles?PC Engine Fan X! wrote:I'd rather play Blazing Lazers on the real deal, meaing on a PC Engine/TG-16 setup rather than on the Wii...of course, there are those out there who don't have such access to said hardware will have to be content with d/l of BL on their Wii... ^_~

I'm really starting to love the TG-16 -- Turbo games are my favorite VC downloads. But back in the day (1990-1995), I never gave it a second look. Now if they had of used the PC Engine's design over here in the US and had R-Type as a pack-in... I would have made a bee line straight for their display every time I went to the store!

These are the games I grow up with and have most love forTurrican wrote:Awesome - a generation of manic players will be exposed to true gems thanks to the Wii. Blazing Lazers will enter top ten in the next annual poll, hopefully.
I hope to see these gems in the next top 25
Thanks! I have much love for Magical Chase and all Turbo games! (TG16 is probably my most favorite console - including all genre)sfried wrote: Sonic R: Yay, Magical Chase icon!

Very well said -- my thoughts exactly..... ^_~

And for sfried,
And no, I don't have anything against Nintendo. I do have an original NES console, a GBA SP & an original purple colored USA Bios version Gamecube console (with the proper Digital I/O port, of course) with GBA Player accessory for some Nintendo gaming fun/love..... ^_~

don't forget repetitive music to help the stages go by slooooooooooooooowRob wrote:Thank you Compile for 12 minute stages with no bullets !
I'd just like to add that Zanac Neo is the best compile game
but aren't all their games nearly the same? (they're more guilty of this crime than psikyo, IMO)

Yeah...but Psikyo was never shy at all about it at all...only lunatics would work almost exclusively in the same genre...and a somewhat repetitive genre at that...and recycle their screen fonts and power-up icons. At least Compile was never that brazen. Sure, you could play GunHed/Blazing Lazers and Super Aleste/Space Megaforce and see the similarities (same goes for Dennin Aleste and Musha Aleste to some degree), but certainly the Spriggan games, for instance, were not similar to any of the above. Then again....it's really comfortable to know what you're getting (for the most part) up front...every developer has a certain "house style." I'm certain anyone here could visualize a basic style of shooter if I just mentioned Cave, Technosoft or Toaplan.roker wrote:but aren't all their games nearly the same? The title screen says "BLAZING LAZERS by NEC" and I think in the download menu the game is credited to Hudson, so I guess that Compile developed the game and Hudson/NEC published it and still hold the publishing rights, which enables them to put it out on the VC.Turrican wrote:There's one thing I don't get... Compile is no more. Who holds the copyright for Blazing Lazers? Who is publishing it on Wii? Is there a chance that we'll see Space Megaforce on it too?

I believe that this is hold true of the vast majority of Turbo Grafx Games (esp in the USA).Herr Schatten wrote:The title screen says "BLAZING LAZERS by NEC" and I think in the download menu the game is credited to Hudson, so I guess that Compile developed the game and Hudson/NEC published it and still hold the publishing rights, which enables them to put it out on the VC.Turrican wrote:There's one thing I don't get... As for Space Megaforce, the game was published by Toho (famous for Godzilla publishing) and I believe they are still around?

Hudson holds the rights to GunHed (the game, not the license)...Compile never did. NEC licensed the game from Hudson and released it in the states as Blazing Lazers. However, in the case of a game like Dennin Aleste on Mega CD...which Compile self-published...who knows. You know, we used to have these piracy discussions a long time ago on the forum, and some people argued that pirating old games was OK because it was old games which companies didn't care about any longer for old consoles. The advent of the VC and similar venues has highlighted just how wrong that line of thinking really is (which was already wrong for philosophical and financial reasons).Turrican wrote:There's one thing I don't get...
