PS1 Shmups: control 'skating'/lag problems.

Post by SFKhoa »

I'm sure I've seen a thread just like this somewhere, but I honestly can't find it. Either I'm blind or I'm just not trying hard enough, but in any case.

I've recently received a copy of Night Raid for the PSX and I've noticed it experiences a type of problem when your ship just "skates" off to a certain direction you push without it stopping until 0.5 seconds later.

You can try making your ship spin 360 degrees and once in a while, your ship will trail off to a random direction for half a second. Night Raid is a concern, even for me.

There are other shmups I know that experience from this same problems too, and they are...
- Soukyugurentai
- Cotton Original
- Zanac x Zanac

Is there any way to remedy this issue? And are there more shmups that suffer from this problem [out of curiousity].

I think I remembering hearing it'll have problems on anything but a Japanese PS1. I have a copy of that game but I've hardly touched it. Let me try it again and see if it does it on mine.
