Hmmm... okay, thanks. I think I'll hang on and wait for the Taito Best version to come out in September before I go for it. For now, I'll stick to the snail-paced PSX rev with the 30 Boss Attack mode. ^_-
Use an Emu, kills slowdown nicely! (also you can use fraps to record your replay as well!)
Hope you guys do manage to get hold of some copies because this is a wonderful collection with some decent shmup and non-shmup games and what I can tell from the PAL Xbox version the emu is pretty much spot on from what I can tell.
p.s: Sorry Icarus I have mentioned emulating the game before have'nt I. opps. Yeah I have the orignal CD to, got it for £2 at game used which was nice!
Going to do a video review soon of the top three 3d hori' shooters for the psx and compare them...
Well, most of you may have seen the news on gamespot or kotaku, but..... Destineer Studios just picked up the North American distribution rights for Taito Legends 2....
........Well only the PS2 version.
According to the US playstation site the release is due for May 6th.
Bout bloody time!!!
BTW
Anyone know much about Gridseeker, all I could dig up online was a Zunata music video on youtube other than that whats the game like?
GameSpot has a news article about TL2. We all know about the games included and so forth, but this confirms that Destineer Studios is publishing the NA release: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6168839.html
Definitely good news, but I was hoping with a delay this long they could've added in the X-Box/PC only ports as consolation. Oh well at least it has some other good titles on it.
So for like the millionth time, will it have G-Darius?

The Gamespot page says it has both Darius Gaiden and G-Darius.
It's a localized version of the EU PS2 game. Both Raystorm and G-Darius are listed. Telling from the list, it looks like the collection may be using the name "Nastar" for Rastan Saga 2. In this case, I feel the localized name actually fits the game better.
I don't know why I've never bothered importing the thing (mostly about getting games I already have (often superior) ports of) but G Darius alone has kept me wanting to pick it up. I'm glad someone has finally decided to bring it to US shores. Can't wait to get my butt kicked by giant fish the way it was meant to happen in the arcade.

Well, Gridseeker, to me, is semi-comparable to Capcoms Varth. I say that mainly because there's dual pods you get when you powerup that deflect bullets and lasers. Unlike Varth though, you control where they are positioned at all times. Theme wise, it has a similar war theme, but doesn't have the crazy amount of levels that Varth offers.

Either they forgot to list it on that list, or they decided to just put it on the PSP edition, gotta get both versions, even if there are repeat games from the first Taito Legends (though looks like they axed Rainbow Islands Extra on the PSP version, or they missed listing that one as well).
Taito legends 2 has now been delayed twice in the last week (though micro delays). Apparently it comes out the 16th or some shit like that. They may bounce it around a bit more, but the delays or so small it seems certain it will at least come out.

So guys, what about PC version?
Any bugs?
normal 60hz for all games?
Price is so cheap...
The PC version runs just fine on an American PC. Plus, you can take the ROMs (yes, it installs ROMs) and plop them into MAME. You can even use the dip switch settings there.
So import away. Then when the PS2 version finally gets released Stateside, you'll have everything.

Besides if you run Windows Vista, Vista automatically by default blocks Star Force disallowing any games to be played.
F***!!! Star Force...
But, i heard what in US, Star Force are banned. So, Us PC version not include this shit?

I noticed a trend of delayed games lately. It's getting annoying. I ordered my Konami Classics Series: Arcade Hits DS from Amazon because it was one of the few places that had it in stock. However, according to the site for GameStop and EB, Taito Legends 2 is a "GameStop Exclusive", so no such luck there. From what I heard at gamefaqs, someone wrote Destineer about Taito Legends 2 and they claimed that it should arrive in stores soon.

There is no US PC version. The PC version was only released in the UK.
And how is this Star Force supposed to be bad? I never noticed anything wrong with my CD-Rom drive playing the game. It does a quick check to see if the CD is there (like so many other games), and then the game starts. I've had the game since last year, and while I did apply a "no CD" hack earlier this year because I was tired of having to put the CD in every time I wanted to play a quick game, I noticed nothing odd or wrong during six-plus months I was using the CD.

Here you go:
Wikipedia wrote:StarForce 3.0 has received criticism for installing its own device driver onto computers. The StarForce 3.0 driver, which is installed along with the protected product or when the protected product is first run, is mostly not uninstalled along with the software and cannot be uninstalled using conventional methods
The StarForce 3.0 drivers are often linked to system instability and computer crashes. Some users claimed that the StarForce 3.0 drivers can cause optical drives to fail [...] There are also several cases of optical drive speeds being slowed down until they reach PIO mode, thus causing damage to the drives.
StarForce 3.0 creates a real security problem when installed. The access control list of the drivers are set such that any user, including those without administrative rights, are allowed to change the association with the executable. Exploitation is simple: The user changes it to point at any arbitrarily chosen executable, which is executed with full system privileges on next reboot. This can be verified with the security tool "srvcheck2", which detects such potentially insecure driver configurations.
I was able to pick up the NA version of Taito Legends 2 yesterday (it finally came out! =D).
I still wish they would have put Cadash in it since it doesn't look like the Xbox version will hit our shores, but I still have the JP version of it on Taito Memories.
Same here, I've been checking with them every day since Wednesday, and they keep saying it'll be here tomorrow. I think I'll just order it online on Monday...of course then it'll just show up in-store on Tuesday.
